I have been getting more and more into kayak fishing and I was wondering if any of you knew of any lakes in within 1-2 hours of Memphis that I could pay to fish? I honestly don't know if these even exist, but thought I would ask. If not, have any of you fished in any of the smaller lakes with the State Parks? Holly Springs for example?

Any help/advice is much appreciated!

Hail State!

Enid and Sardis are in that range as is Lamar Bruce. Gotta be some good MS River Oxbows up that way that are public

I am looking into some of the Oxbows and that is a good idea. I am trying to stay away from those larger lakes like Sardis. In a kayak it takes quite a bit of time to get to where you need to get. Not to mention a ton of boats that are often not looking out for kayakers. Appreciate it!

Chewalla and Wall Doxy are both near Holly Springs. Arkabutla is outside Coldwater but there's a few sloughs near Hwy 51 in Coldwater with boat docks.

The open water along I-55 at Coldwater is a perfect place to kayak fish. You can get access to it just west of the Coldwater exit.

I believe there is a ramp just below the dam at Arkabutla also, it looks bad fishy down there. Just go in the park and turn at the outlet channel.

They’ve got the spillway shut down for inspection and repairs until September. There’s very little water coming out of the spillway.

Horshoe Lake right across the River In Arkansas. Ramp on the SouthWest side of the lake is open to the public for a fee.
Easy paddle to the right for trees and lilly pads or to the left for boat docks. Lots of fishable water accessible by kayak.

Gibson county lake outside Trenton. Lake graham in jackson tn. Anh of the natchez trace stare park lakes. Almost all are no wake lakes.

Beech lake in lexington, pin oak in lexington are good but have skier and tuber boat traffic.

Should also try the wold river area in Memphis as well as theshelby farls lakes. Dont know what the rules are on kayaks there though
