What do we know?

I believe from what we have heard. Scott, Molinaro and Snyder were interviewed/considered with Snyder being the top target. Snyder declined and now apparently Scott is. It an option and they are all in on Seabass.

This seems to be all of the information or speculation rather that we have to go by
Snyder is the only name I've seen posted that was named as an actual interviewee.
Molinaro and Scott were just tossed around by posters from what I've read but please correct me if I'm wrong.
So they are now pushing for their 4th option with no guarantee of that even?
See above.

I never heard Molinaro was interviewed. Scott was never an option

Don’t understand why some people are getting preemptively disappointed. Doesn’t really seem like a healthy way to live.
Preemptively? It's been a month and it seems we are no closer to a replacement since day 1 of the Donnie news.. Snyder is out. Seabass is a who knows. And what else is going on?,, btw, I'm disappointed so far, but it does not affect my life one bit. Therefore my physical and mental health are very well intact.

No one has been hired yet and you’re bummed out. That’s what preemptive means. Somebody is eventually going to be hired. If you don’t like that person when it happens that’s fine but being negative about a hire that hasn’t happened yet is just strange logic.

Preempt: to take action in order to prevent something from happening. Or to acquire in advance. That doesnt describe what is happening or how it applies to me, so that's an odd take. And trust me, I'm not bummed out. Also, theres a big difference from me saying I'm disappointed a hire hasn't been announced versus you saying I'm negative about a hire that hasn't happened. The way I see it, I'm not the one with strange logic.

Kolin Moore would have been a great hire. I would have loved to see what that might have done for Poz.

Next up.

The time factor for one, we're over a month into this and people aren't exactly knocking down the door for what should be a coveted position of. Associate Head Coach in the premier wrestling conference in the country. I mean they should really have the pick of the litter here or damn well near it.

Also, I think the promotion of Pollard last time around (well for me anyway) soured some of us. Now I'm sure Pollard's a great guy and the best ever in some people's minds, however, we're in the B1G and some of us were hoping for a little more than Rider varsity athlete. When you look around the B1G, we have one of the least accomplished coaching staff's out there when it comes to wrestling accolades. If you can't see the concern, well I certainly can.

Preemptive is not the correct word. Expecting disappointment, well, I think that's called pessimistic. Logic from SCNJ, no; pom-poms and giggles, yes.

What should expectations be? I made mine clear in the beginning, and they're still on target of becoming true.

Why do you think potential candidates aren't "exactly knocking down the door for what should a coveted position"?

So get upset when you don’t like the hire. Getting upset about a hire that hasn’t happened yet seems like a waste of energy. We’re not going into the season with the spot vacant, just put the disappointment on pause until you have a reason to be.

We still have an upper heavyweight coming...i expect around 174 to 197 pounds.....i was trying to think of someone who fits that bill

We are nearing hiring an assistant coach in the upper weights with AA qualifications and Big Ten experience.
I hope the new coach has significant coaching experience.. An upper-weight coach with Big Ten experience is ideal. Donny is hard to replace. Please not a first time coach to replace Donny.

I’m out of the loop here but it sounds like this person isn’t replacing Donny, but rather a 2nd coach (lower/middleweight) will be hired. Possibly Rivera

I don't know that a guy with significant and successful coaching experience would be willing to take the assistant job. Taylor doesn't have coaching experience, does he? Yet, he is a great get for OSU, but now he needs to show he can coach as well as wrestle. Not every great athlete can coach; it's a different talent.

Taylor has significant coaching experience. He coached M2, one of the most successful wrestling clubs in the country. Many PSU studs trained there before enrolling in Penn State. He hired Jimmy Kennedy as Associate Head Coach. Kennedy previously was a coach at Penn State and Northwestern. Kennedy coached Rivera at Northwestern. Plus he won the World Team Trials and represented the USA in Uzbekistan.

If we hire a first-time coach, we will be losing Donny's 20 years of experience. Who will handle the management roles and run the practices that are Donny's unique abilities. I doubt a first-time coach can do that. The good news is that the guy is a national runner-up from a Big Ten program. A good assistant hire. Just hard to understand how the program can be managed. We achieved. our success when Donny came on board. Scott and Donny ran the program focusing on their unique abilities.
