Got my attention for a full cycle. We'll see what happens but for the first time in many years, I'm excited to follow recruiting again.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year everyone!

So I feel better as well. But riddle me this, Frost’s first 2 seasons netted better classes in terms of scores (21st in 2018 and 15th in 2019 on Rivals). Why does it feel better now?

To me it's because Frost won't have his fingertips on any of these new additions

For some reason it seems like it would be easier to recruit to Riley's mess than to Frost's mess.

Because Frost was a asshat from the start.

I'm sure most were happy with those classes at the time, but we obviously see what it turned into. I think a lot of people (I guess just speaking for me), have a lot more optimism that this staff will develop better and won't crumble into the pile of hot garbage the other did.

Felt good at the time, but so did my first marriage. Frost woefully undeveloped every single class and that is an undeniable fact. Pull this thread back up in another 4-5 years and then we can compare the 2.

This. Frost followed Riley, which was bad but Riley did have one winning season wedged in between two losing seasons and it was only three years after Peeling's nine wins a year for seven years. By contrast, Rhule inherited a program with six straight losing seasons. And he is not yet down with this recruiting class. This is the EARLY signing period, not the final. And he can add three or four more guys.

More trust in the development abilities of the staff in place. Yes some hindsight and future hoping in play but the Frost staff didn’t seem to have the same experience in development. Time will tell for sure

Merry Christmas.

I'd assess this transition class as average in terms of each prospect's talent but above average in terms of numbers

The other thing is Frost didn’t have the transfer portal in 18 and 19… this class is based off of high school recruits, but when you add in all of the transfer portal gets, I like to think this class is clearly better.

Riley really fist f'd Frost. He got paid to leave, then got paid to poach players, including the qb who would have played immediately at Oregon St.

We won’t know whether the class grades up or not for a couple of years. Frost’s classes, just like Riley’s, were Potemkin classes. I don’t think Frost really settled on what he was trying to accomplish. Maybe the same is true with Rhule. He said today what won games at Temple and Baylor won’t be the same here. But that admission is a way better start than saying the conference will have “have to adjust to us”.

Because at least for the time being we have faith that our new chef will be able to turn our ingredients into a decent meal instead of the box wine soufflé we've been dealt the last umpteen years.

If you'd spend even 5 mins. using the brain that God gave you, you could actually learn something from not only me, but others as well. You're doing yourself a disfavor by simply dismissing good sources and expertise
I do not dismiss good sources and expertise. Thanks for your concern.

It now appears Nebraska will be ranked in the top 30 when the dust settles and that will be quite an accomplishment for Rhule and staff.

One the one thing he gets that Frost didn’t was have sound good special teams that could win you two games a year..

numbskull Frost never figured out how important that part off the game truly is..

Something I find interesting is every coach going back to BC has been able to land/keep the #1 recruit in the state. Grixby and Coleman were probably the two most nail bitters

Gebbia gave it a go here. Had he been named starter he would have stayed.

If you didn't care when Tyjon Lindsey or Avery Roberts left then you can't cry about it after the fact. I know I was okay with Tyjon leaving.

Yes, this is it. I knew a couple of families with walk on recruits through the years and Tom O., knew them and would talk with them throughout their time at the Huskers. We have all heard stories of this and Tom O. interest in developing players. I read several times where older players had to remind, and encourage Coach Frost to talk, and get to know the younger players! We wondered why the Florida, high ranked recruits all left?? He didn't have the time for you! At 5 million a year! This new group of coaches know developement! We hope.

Don't let everyone fool you, many were ecstatic over Frost's first couple of years. Year one was blame it on new system and culture. Year two, still culture, got some new faces but still young and the mess that Riley left. Then year three, maybe some doubts start to creep in but still the cupboard is bare, Riley left nothing except a bad culture kind of thing and there ya go.

Its easy in hind site to judge and say he was a bum from the start which would not be honest. I am squarely in the "don't tell me, show me camp" of results. Time will tell. Talk is cheap, all coaches do it.
