Tonight will be an indicator of how the rest of the regular season will play out. Chips are stacked against not only the players, but Cal as well. I truly think they respond tonight with maximum effort and a thrashing of MSU. At least show me some good things in the first half and be up by 5. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:. But in all seriousness, let's put two halves together and win going away.

We HAVE to have some momentum going into WVU game. This game is huge. Especially with the 3 game stretch shortly after that includes UT, TAMU, and Auburn

Fix the turnovers and stagnant offense and there aren't too many teams in the country that can hang with these guys.
The defense is there, still some things to fix down low on D, but it's still a very good defense.

Our D is def there but grabbing and holding onto the defensive rebound was killing us last game. Too many extra possessions for UF down the stretch.

Or things click after tonight and the Cats finish the regular season 25-6. This instinct to make every game an apocalyptic moment is a bit naive. It'll play out soon enough. Just wait for it.
I don’t normally do that. But if we lose tonight....just saying. I’ve already got those butterflies and the game is six hours away.

I may hit the panic button with a loss to MSU at home tonight but wouldn't go as far to prepare for the NIT with a loss. But boy, BBN will be a madhouse with a loss.

if they struggle... IMO the guys just don't have "heart" and Cal can't motivate them (right now)

Fair point and I agree. If they aren't going after every 50/50 ball, if they aren't giving everything they have, then we are in trouble. But if they are struggling because shots aren't falling, that happens. I think most can agree we don't have the highest basketball IQ. But if they are putting themselves in good position to score, making the extra pass, and taking the correct shots, that's all we can ask for.

On the defensive side of the ball, they have to take this as a personal challenge. Defense is 80% effort, if they aren't giving that and are being lazy, I would hope like hell Cal would have a quick hook with them.

that seems very spot on...let's hope the opposite occurs

If Kentucky loses this game something is seriously wrong with this team and I will be officially worried about, I wont say it.

With the exception of Louisville, we're playing down to everybody this year. Fully prepared to be a 3 point game with 5 minutes left. Desperately hope I'm wrong.

Expecting the Cats to cover with a double-digit win, not that there is any empirical reason for such an expectation.

More worried about the officiating. For as bad as Kentucky may have played the last two games.. they should have, and would have, won those.. and only had 3 losses.

I've been thinking about this: If the officials literally put on the opponents jersey's and made it legit 5 on 8, how many fans here would still say "Well we have to limit our turnovers! Can't blame the refs when Knox is getting quadruple teamed and doesn't pass out!"?

I just want to see some fight, come out swinging and don't let up. It's always interesting to see how teams react with their backs against the wall. I'm hoping this team responds with some fire.

Serious question. When is the pressure not on at UK to win a basketball game? Especially at Rupp.

There is pressure to win due to expectations and then there is pressure to win so to keep your season from skidding off the rails.
This is closer to the latter.

Again, I say, why not have the officials call the game fairly? Let Kentucky and the staff worry about the team playing well or ******.. We don't need ****** officiating to add to it.

Kansas played pretty ****** against WVU.. but, the officials came out in the 2nd half to help them win. They had like 11 turnovers in the first 18 minutes.

I can't disagree with you there. I'm just saying that given the facts (mid January with Freshmen against a veteran team that can crush you from 3 point range), we did really well. I have to believe our guys will get those boards and loose balls by the next time we see Florida.

Would like to see:

Killer mentality
Alley oop passes
Lock down defense
Effort on the boards
Enthusiasm and excitement from the Rupp Arena crowd
