Did you miss her degrees from Ohio state. Athletics success is in her DNA. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is an important part of Rutgers culture, being one of the most diverse schools in America. She knows the money that Michigan spends, and would be understanding of the dollars that Rutgers needs to spend
Rutgers (and many other organizations) completely overdo the DEI thing.
I’ve been part of several RU organizations and boards. And every single one of them spent so much time , energy, focus on being perfect in DEI . It would delay decisions, it would completely influence and be a primary reason for many decisions . No organization can be effective when there is that much focus on something that isn’t the primary goal. At times it felt like DEI was the primary goal.
I’m not pro or anti DEI initiatives. But when it consumes so much attention and is such a prominent part of every decision … then the attention and focus isn’t on the primary thing.
I’m sure DEI defenders or those inside the organization might try to say otherwise . But I’ve worked at plenty of organizations. And there’s a correlation between how fast things get done vs how much focus there is on DEI.
