Tough go! Two to four of those teams will probably be ranked in the top 15 at least initially. Will be a real test for this brand new team. Hope they are cohesive and grow together as a unit during the summer because this will be a difficult path for this group.

There will probably be 2 more cupcakes to be added, and maybe a lower power conference team, but hard to fault that schedule (although I'm sure we'll try).

Playing 3 of the 4 blue bloods (and we're the 4th), along with UofL and Michigan who have been IMO, top10 programs in the last decade. That's about as difficult as a schedule as you'll find.

Looking way ahead to the 2022-23 schedule we have road or neutral site games with Michigan State in the ESPN classic..UCLA or Ohio State in the CBS classic...Michigan in London England...
Notre Dame and Louisville on the road and a home date in the Sec/Big 12 challenge against tba....so I would say the other 7 non conference games will all be home games and probably cup cakes which I'm fine with unless we find a home and home series with a top tier team and start it out at Rupp

It's 3 preseason top 10 teams. UNC and UL are wildcards. Those should be 5 opportunities to build a resume. I hope we don't stack the rest of it with teams ranked in the 200's and 300's.

Why not? If we have an experienced team, sure give me solid competition. But after last year, and it still being a young team, why would we want harder competition? If anything, I'd like to see us dial it back.. or maybe, at least not try for a top10 hardest schedule.

Wish we were playing one tomato can before Duke, awfully hard to have that as first game of a new team.. 6 of first 8 games are going to be rough. Be lucky to go 3-3
It will be 2 exhibition games...Puke only has a potential threat in Paolo..rememberit's their first game under the bright lights

It's not like were playing in the WCC. After our OOC slate we will be playing 18 games against teams in the top100 (and 2 against Vandy lol). Many of those teams will be in the top35.

Never understood how people can't enjoy a few 30-point beatdowns against cupcakes. Surely, we can have 5 or 6 of those in a 40 game season? You can't just play all your games against the top25.

Tough non-conference coupled with an SEC that will be brutal. Conference games will be dog fights. I'm thinking like a 24-7 (13-5) kinda record. With a schedule that difficult 7 losses could still potentially get us a 1 seed, granted we win our fair share of some of the toughest games.

I expect nothing but a 40-0 record every year, lol.. This first 5 games are making me think a 3-3 record to start the season will be a good start.. Anything better will be welcome..
This has the potential to be a top 5-10 team if they can come together before Feb.. I am hoping for at least a final 4 team and if it's better I will be very happy..

Need more cupcakes. This team needs some easy games in order to get use to playing together.
No kidding. That's a tough schedule, not only the team, but the refs will be horrible with Dook neutral, @KU, @Michigan, and UNC neutral. Not to mention the SEC got not only top recruits, but most of the top transfers. The SEC is going to be tough with at least 7-8 good teams and 3-4 of them potentially really good.

Is 10-3 too optimistic??
Sounds about right.Id love to go 13-0 in the non conference portion but I got to be realistic and say the Michigan and Kansas road games will be tough. The Duke game is one we should win but it's hard for 5 to beat 8.The North Carolina game will be the same way...The SEC schedule will be a hell as well....We could have a very good team by the time March gets here but could also have 8-9 losses as well

I think the why not is about not having all our eggs in one basket. If we happen to sweep those 3 top 10 teams then yeah after that may as well cruise. But if we go 0 and 3 because we are still trying to gel we’ll really appreciate any mid-tier teams we can play that are reasonably beatable but still strong enough to repair our NET, polling, etc. en masse.

UK is not just playing top competition but in featured games for the networks that will get a lot of visibility and build up. UK could have loaded up with ooc wins but went big with this schedule. The cupcake games are not as easy as they used to be and with the 3 pt lines and transfer rules it is hard to evaluate those programs. Those games allow some playing time for bench players and market the sport to many places. Michigan was smart getting a UK match up. For academics seeing UK playing UNC Duke UM ND doesnt hurt either. Add in Auburn and Tenn games and there is much to look forward to.

If we do not go 5-1 in our first 6 Cal should be made team equiptment manager. After last year he has no excuses for lackluster results. The top 20 have been spanking our *** for awhile now, no excuse for that at UK

No complaints about that schedule, I think it’s awesome.

The SEC could end up being the toughest conference this year… .yeah, I said it. The talent in the SEC is stacked. The league is recruiting very well and it won the transfer portal this year.

We better get all the wins we can in the non conference slate, because it's going to be a war every game in the SEC and the refs will be back to showing off in front of the home crowds.

The coaching in the SEC has really gotten better over the last decade.

I’ll say 5-3 against that bunch.

Duke probably gets us to start the “say goodbye to a legend” tour. We aren’t getting any calls in that game.

We probably lose at Michigan.

We probably lose at KU.

Need five cupcakes along the way and hopefully we don’t slip up and pull an Evansville.

10-3 non-conference sounds about right.

Anybody who thinks this schedule is not hard, do this.......

When things are complete.... compare the OCC schedules of Duke, UNC, Kansa, UL (teams we play) and get back to me.

I've done it before and it is usually stunning how easy their schedules are compared to ours.
