Predictions on Saturdays Line? Duke - UNC

As a former HIGHLY unsuccessful amateur sports gambler I am always fascinated about opening lines and what Vegas perceives about the games more often than not they are pretty close since their ultimate in goal is to have the same amount of money wagered on both sides.

I’m curious as to what everyone thinks the opening line will be for Duke - UNC… Both teams coming off a loss, Senior night for Duke in greatest rivalry in sports.

I’m guessing it will be Duke -4 or 5. Any less will have me alarmed and anythjng higher will have me elated.

Obviously the spreads don’t mean diddly once the tip goes up especially in a huge rivalry game like this but strictly from a metric standpoint I am fascinated to see what it is.

Prediction Duke -4.5

Yep , Duke -2.5 but we probably win by 10. I’m thinking 74-64 Duke.

-2.5 was my thought also. And I expect the wagering to lean to Duke, and it drops to 2.0

If 3 pts if generally given to the home team then a -2.5 would indicate UNC is the stronger team on a neutral court.

I agree with you. -2.5 is not good news for Duke. 4.5 -5 is hopefully the line. I am interested in the total. 164 or higher total is not giving Duke’s zone much credit. UNC will want a high scoring game and will push the pace. Hoping Duke’s 4 bigs get 25-30 shots and a lot more than 3 FTs like they had in CH.

Opens around 6 pts and drops to 4 or 4.5 pts by game time. Actually think if UNC had won against Miami then the line would stay closer to 6 pts.

We lost our last game too. I think we’ll be just as fired up as they will. I’ll say Duke -5

I didn't know that was the case for basketball. I thought that was just the football home advantage. Interesting that the two sports have the same home spread.

It will start at -3.5 or -4.5 Duke. 3 points for home court and my guess is they see us as slightly better than UNC right now.

Not surprised at all by the opening line. Vegas is begging for a bunch of early money to come in on UNC. If you want to bet Duke, hold off until tomorrow and the line will be between -4 or -5 Duke. Depending on what the 1st half line is, if Duke is favored by -1 1/2 or more then I would lay money on UNC for the 1st half to go along with taking Duke minus the points on the entire game.

Think this game will be similar to the early season games. Grayson and Trent will start off slow and UNC will hit more 3s than us. Duke is down or tied at half but comes back in the 2nd half and covers. When you win big, send 10% my way. :)

Line moving up a bit. Early coin looks to be in duke’s favor. -7.5 -05

That’s a tough call. Could see the over hitting pretty easily, but have a feeling both teams play enough defense to keep the game in the high 70s.

I’m going 79-72 Duke.
