they're not even. that's rhule preaching.

all 4 of purdy's TDs came 2+ years ago at FSU. he's 0 TD/3 INT at NU.

Wait, so past performances from other teams don’t count? Then why are you holding the head coach accountable for Carolina?

Wow, my head is spinning at the double standards!!!! You, sir, are a liar, speaking out of both sides of your mouth.

wut?

I said baker mayfield's worst winning percentage of his career was under rhule (a fact)

I didn't say purdy's FSU TDs didn't count. I simply added context - they all occurred 2+ years ago at a different school (a fact). he's played in 7 games at NU with nary a one (a fact)

please ensure the archive reflects accurately. TIA.

Don’t answer a fool according to his foolishness or you’ll be like him yourself.

Be careful Tim!

Help me understand. Purdy’s stats at Florida state aren’t to be reflected in his performance at Nebraska, even though they are his stats. But Rhule’s stats at Carolina absolutely count against his performance at Nebraska. What about his turnarounds at temple and Baylor?

It’s just awfully hard understanding how you keep score. Even though it’s clear in your mind, it isn’t clear to everyone else. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I didn't do anything to connect Rhule's CAR performance to his performance here

I merely stated a standalone fact about baker mayfield's time under him compared to his time elsewhere

you're trying way too hard. I'm sure there's plenty of umbrage inducing comments from me out there without needing to manufacture it.

rhule's 47-45 in college. he's never beaten a ranked P5 team. he's 1-2 in bowl games. those remarks are all encompassing, and probably should be connected to his performance here thus far.

Just so you know, facts can be cherry picked. If you want to ignore year three and four at Temple, and year three at Baylor, so be it. It doesn’t mean that he didn’t orchestrate some pretty amazing turn around there. But go for it… Spill the word facts and point to overall record, including the first seasons at those places where things were less than optimal.

Like you said, context matters. And context says Rhule is markedly better after the first year.

I'm not ignoring them. they're included in his overall record.

Nebraska isn't baylor and it sure as hell isn't temple.

year 3 didn't pan out too well in the big leagues. we have no choice but to find out what we'll look like in year 3, 4, 5 under him here.

Alright - enough with this negativity. Let’s get behind our coach (support-wise … not BIG style)!!!!!

Sorry to interrupt the pie fight, but just wanted to get on the record that I'd be happy to see either Purdy or HH start on Saturday. I did not like Purdy at all last year but I thought he was showing a slight glimmer of improvement right before he got injured. Still would love to see HH get enough snaps to see what he has. What's the risk? We're not winning 6 this year if nothing changes.

I don’t get it. How do you drag yourself back to this board if it’s such a source of pain and frustration for you. Shouldn’t you be spending more time in a happy place?

this board is the best part of being a Nebraska fan for the past 7 years!

the pain and frustration takes place during the football/basketball games

Rhule deserves more time. He also deserves criticism for the trash on the field. I think we all want him to succeed but I can’t speak for everyone.

If he cleans up his act this week it would go a long way. Nothing is guaranteed so waiting on the 3 year rebuild, for me, may be too much.

Too lazy to look it up but I’m pretty sure year 1 at both programs Rhule turned around he played young QB’s with promise and let them get experience. He didn’t run out a veteran guy making the same old mistakes year after year. This is not the same process.

What I find
Preacher also apparently said this today:

You're damn right. My family had our season tickets 40 years before I was born. Like kong said, I didn't choose to be a fan. I was born into it. And I won't sit back for the 3rd time in a row and watch a bunch of nonsense while being told to be patient. I unfortunately know ****** football and I know ****** qb play. Can't have a turnover machine AND not score. That is how you lose every single game.

Fix it or make changes. And Rhule and Satterfield haven't fixed it.

They've been around for two games. I expect them to fix it, but damn give them a chance to make adjustments. Just because our fan base has experienced a multitude of ways to lose games, these guys haven't. The only repeated mistake from one game to the other has been (1) interception vs. Colorado, which is something that happens but feels far worse to us when combining everything else. The guy has a history of turnovers at his previous school, but nothing like this. Last two years at GT he averaged putting the ball on the ground (not lost) once every 2 games... which is not good but the dude had more lost fumbles Saturday than the previous (2) years combined.

We had a season not too long ago where everyone was freaking out about our center snapping the ball all over the place, saying he sucks and put anyone else in there just to do the basics of getting the ball to the QB... that dude goes in the 2nd Round of the draft as a Junior and we WISHED he was still here last year.

Agreed, looking at the last two collegiate experiences, he stunk the first year but made good strides after that. At what point, however, does it become a self fulfilling prophecy for his first year? It’s not possible to be better earlier? Also, we are not the heavily populated East Coast nor the richly stocked shelves of TX….does that mean he’ll need 5-6 years to show progress due to recruiting challenges? Other than Tony White I’m not getting warm fuzzies observing a Rhule coached team, hope he does pan out and does great things in Lincoln, but I’m skeptical so far (it’s way early).

I was simply making the (correct) point to someone else that starting a flawed veteran at QB is NOT the plan that Rhule followed at Temple or Baylor. Jurgens is a great of example of how the previous staff didn't coach up the talent we had. Let's not do it again.

Thanks for providing a perfect example. Jurgens terrible snapping lost us games. For no reason. He now plays RG in the NFL. So we lost games for no reason only to have the guy finally snap decent and leave. Where he now doesn't even need to snap. But I could deal with Sims if he was a talented young player like Cam. He's not. It's his 4th season starting.

Only at Nebraska.

I'm giving Rhule a chance but I am officially leery. My ******** meter is off the charts. He's doubling down on a guy who is majorly struggling. No reason why we can't at least see what HH has. What is the downside?

The false starts, the offsides penalty on 4th and 5

Also repeat offenses

Just to be clear, I'm NOT out on Rhule. I don't see it as an all or nothing proposition. I think there are obvious signs of improvement in almost all areas. That doesn't mean I can't think it's a terrible mistake to stick with Sims. I think Parcells once said something like, "I only know what I see." We need to stop thinking that QB's that kill us will magically stop doing it. After a few games they are what they are.

The obvious problem for fans is that we don’t watch practice. I still remember very well the chants for Frankie London then Joe Dailey a few years later.

I’m hoping HH at least gets a couple of meaningful series. Ironically fan criticism is EXACTLY why Callahan benched Dailey at TTU and threw Bones to the wolves in that beat down.

Again, we've been engaged for YEARS with rationalizing poor QB play by saying things like "well, we don't know what happens in practice" or "the other guys must be worse." At some point there has to be consequences for poor play. I still think there will be, there's no way Rhule will let him continue on his current pace of turnovers. I surely hope Rhule isn't a thin-skinned prima donna like Callahan was. He literally cost himself this job by stubbornly refusing to admit he needed a change at the DC position.

And if they're smart, they'll give White about $ 2.5M reasons to continue to build this defense next year. He's gonna become a hot commodity for someone.

While we're at it, just have Trev find the money to pay an OC who also works with QB's and toss $ 1.5M his way.

We've seen what a young, smart dude like White can do with a defense in 2 games, be nice to see what a high octane OC could do at the QB and offensive play calling position.

Not really. I’m not the one on this board starting dozens of threads shredding the coach.

I’m not defending the coach. I’m just pointing out how unbecoming it is to spend countless hours scouring X looking for yet another negative thread to start about the coach.

Go ahead and try to paint me as the troll. Most on this board know the truth.
Timsnsun- i'd suggest doing what I did and hitting mute button for little king kong, debating with irrational people goes no where. Long Rhule, GBR.
