I’m not doing so hot tonight guys. It’s been a rough 48 hours out this way and I’m not handling it well tonight.
My mental health was getting much better and I was starting to feel mostly ok, trying to move on a bit.

Well Saturday shot that all to hell.

Just need some positive thoughts, vibes, prayers.

Lean on us if that helps. That’s what I do. It helps to know that there are millions of others that are willing to drop the gloves and fight for UK. I know you're one of those people, as am I.

We’re right there with you!

In Hopkinsville. We got very lucky. But our neighbors in Pembroke didn’t. And of course Mayfield and Dawson Springs.

Dawson Springs is in Hopkins County but might as well be In Christian County. They’ve always been a sister community to us. Hearing our Rescue Squad say there was literally nothing left confirmed our worst fears. It was sickening watching that monster go through on radar. Knowing all we could do is just tell people to get out of the way. When you have the former NWS Paducah warning coordinator next to you saying it’s the worst storm he’s ever seen it was just not a fun night.

Im a spotter and work with our local spotter group. Friday night was not fun. Lots of people sending out messages for help online and we just couldn’t get to them. Some from the candle factory. I’m having real trouble getting those messages out of my head.

I was in MayfieldFriday night shopping at Walmart. Observing the town a few minutes after the tornado was surreal, felt like that horrible movie 2010 where just about everything is destroyed. I went to church today and tried to discuss my feelings with my pastor, as I can’t help but wonder why God allows such things to happen, didn’t really get an answer and on reflection I’m not sure anyone can adequately answer that question to someone who has witnessed such a catastrophe. What I will say Cal02 is try to keep talking about how your feeling don’t stuff it away where it will fester. May God grant you peace and you will be in my prayers tonight.

I feel you brother, same here. Prayers for you. If I had money right now there’s no doubt I’d break my sobriety.

There is some very good news that came out this evening regarding the situation with the tornadoes. The candle factory in Mayfield had a spokesperson announce that they've actually now located 90 of the workers. They are alive and okay. It turns out, there was a storm shelter within the factory and most of the people went into the shelter. When the tornado passed, they came out and naturally did what most people would in that situation...they bugged out to check on their families, relatives and homes. It took time to track down their whereabouts. So the updated numbers reflect there are 8 people dead at the candle factory and 8 people still missing. The spokesperson was hopeful that those 8 still listed as missing will also turn up safe.

Now, that still means there are probably going to be 50 or more people dead in the state when everything gets sorted out. And that is still a terrible tragedy. But it does at least appear now that there will be 60-70 fewer deaths than we all originally feared, based on the early numbers that suggested most of the workers at that factory were probably buried in the ruins. We should all take heart in this fantastic news that the loss of life at the candle factory is apparently far less than previously feared.

I’m going to be honest with you, when I’m on rafters I feel like I always need a jacket. I know we’re not all actually in a room together, but it feels that way. Is it just me or is it usually cold in here?

Mental health is no laughing matter. I did something dumb a few weeks ago and I tell ya, my anxiety has been awful.

talk to people. Friends, family, professionals, people on this message board. Getting it out helps a lot. Praying for you brother

I wish more people took mental health seriously, but it is beginning to move in that direction. I’ve seen several private insurance companies picking up the bill at work, more so than ever before.

BBNcal if it feels too heavy reach out my man. There are some great places in your area I’m sure, or seek your church family if you have one. If not I highly recommend l it IMO.

Or we can continue to argue about Calipari until you feel better. I’ll go first.

What do baseball fans say when Calipari throws out the first pitch after mass on Sunday?
HOLY COW!

Best,
Harry Carey

I’m right there with you. I’m glad you are ok. We just watched in horror as we watched it plow through you guys. And of course could get no reports afterwards. That silence is awful.

I’ve dealt with a lot of crap in my life and to say my faith has been shaky lately is an understatement. This is supposed to be a season of joy and hope. And a Friday night a lot of joy was just obliterated.

It just seems like every time I start to get some momentum or feel even remotely better some seriously bad crap happens.

Dawson Springs is my hometown and most of my family on my mother’s side live there. Both my mom’s house and sister’s house were totally destroyed. The entire town was basically leveled.

Im sure that’s tough to deal with. I can’t completely understand your position but I definitely empathize with it. I know what dark places feel like from my end, like you’re stuck in a washing machine that won’t stop for what seems like eternity. I’m currently finding my bright spots, and I hope you keep grinding for yours. It’s a dogfight hang in man.

I understand. I've been helping in Bremen for two days, heading back there this morning. It's horrible.

I appreciate it guys. Just rough times. I just feel like all the progress I was making out of my grieff just got drop kicked back to the curb. This crap over the weekend couldn’t have come at a worse time of year for these families. I hurt with them. This is not the time of year to experience death and loss. Add on top of all of this our basketball struggles.

I just want some normalcy for a while. We fight through a pandemic and then wham. We get hit again

Just can’t even catch our breaths.

I'll pray for you bbncal...please reach out... speak (often) with those that you love and those that love you... be open and honest about what you are experiencing...

Please consider seeking professional guidance from your family doctor and/or a psychologist or psychiatrist... don't hold back...anything... speak to the truth and be open to the feedback you will get from loved ones as well as the professionals...

Blessings...🙏🏻
