Wasn’t Busch the ST coordinator during the Santino Panico era?
Not 100% sure. In bigger picture he said " some teams say we're fielding every ball and never fair catch. That's stupid if you have 4.5 hang time on 30 yard punt" paraphrasing. Said they have to be "smart". "Secure the ball first. That gives your team a chance "

Mickey Joseph…. Starting this thread…
Guy who keeps coming up, from the QB, from the ST coach, from the WRs coach: Brody Belt. Mickey Joseph said, "Brody's a football player. Brody's probably the best football player on this team. Overall when you're talking about a football player..." Smart. Can play all positions.
Yep. Listened to his interview on radio tonight. Very complimentary of belt.

I always used to say that Quincy Enunwa was one of our best players if not the best football player on our team. The guy destroyed people when given the opportunity to tackle. Great blocker, very good tackler, big WR. He could have easily added 20 lbs and played TE and sure as hell could have played linebacker or maybe safety. Some said he could have played RB as well. Granted he wasn't Suh or Helu at their position, but Q was just a great football player.
Best "overall" player, not the best player, but I know what you're saying.

Betts, Manning, Palmer, Martin, Alante, and the kid from NM (who is not practicing right now). Belt is going to get snaps if the younger WRs don’t show up. Coaches appreciate players that show up knowing what they’re doing.
Mickey has already shown, if you don't produce, he will bench the guy.

Put your feet on the 10 yard line and don't back up.

Busch said two weeks ago in an interview that the 10 yard line was 20 years ago. It's now the 5. 5 yard line is OK to start a drive, but the 2 or 3 is terrible.
I'll stand corrected. The 10 is a lousy place to start a drive, the 5.5 yard line even worse.

Joseph said "he's probably the best football player on our team". There are just some guys who you can put at multiple positions and they can get the job done. He's not deceptively fast. He's just plain fast. Can play all of the WR spots, RB and has spent time at DB. Just a really good smart football player. Tom used to use guys like him at wingback. Dave Leigel, Shane Swanson etc.
Swanson…….The cowboy!!

I think there is a bit of nuance in the statement. I read it as he is a football player, meaning hard nosed, work his a$$ off, willing to do anything type of player. A guy the coaches love. But no necessarily the best player at any given position.

I suppose we can take it as a positive for Brody or a slap in the face to others. It is all perspective.

I am happy for Brody if he is our best player. But I’m afraid it’s a tallest midget contest, or smartest grocery bagger situation
If you ever got home to find a mess in your grocery bag because the bagger put a gallon of milk on top your eggs, you wished you would have had a smart bagger.

So it would be nice if everyone gave the effort 👌 💪

I guess I can't understand anyone that doesn't push themselves to give max effort.
It is human nature. Not everyone is always 100% max effort. Not in sports and not in the real world where we all work.

In reality no one is 100% all the time. Some are just closer than others.

This reminds me of the play this year (forgot opponent?) where we got beat on a long run or run after catch towards corner of end zone and Domann blew by the other DBs/LBs who had seemingly let up. Domann laid a hard hit full speed just as the player crossed the goal line.

Sure they scored, but JoJo displayed the “never quit” attitude we desperately need more of.

Loved Quincy from the day I watched his high school film.

Guy just brung it. Nobody should ever get tired of effort guys, and guys that make plays when plays break down.

I like Brody Belt as well. Full effort guy, and knows how to play football. He flashed a lot last year in his limited playing time. Can he run a 4.3 40, no. Is he 6'3" and 225? No.

Quincy was a 4.6 guy, but he outran faster guys in pads and in games.
