I hope you are right Tuco. I really do. I hope that some of the more inexperienced guys emerge as solid defensive linemen. It is indeed possible. But I am not basing my pessimism on just Beckton's comments, and even the ever-optimistic Sipple, among many others, has noted that there is reason for concern at this position. Many observers have noted the need to find someone in the transfer portal this summer in order to shore things up there. Beckton's comments were for me just icing on the cake and not the sole reason for why I am concerned. Casey Rogers is often injured. And Chins has noted that so far Hutmacher has not translated his strength into proper technique and has a ways to go. Robinson is a decent guy, but he needs to make progress this year as well. All too often last year he lost leverage and was an on again off again kind of player. And all of the other guys on the roster who are waiting in the wings have size and potential, but have zero experience and have yet to prove anything. So yeah... I am "wringing my hands" over this because I recognize what an important year this is for Frost and for Nebraska football. The schedule is favorable and we need a good season. Desperately. I see many, many components now in place, including better coaches, for us to make a run. But the one big question mark for me remains the defensive line and it will stay a question mark for me and reason for concern until they prove otherwise.Perhaps I was unclear. My point was that all the handwringing is about DLine. Mostly because the TE coach said the offense was able to move the ball on the ground. I pointed to the 4 guys that were all league to bring attention to the fact that none of them were defensive linemen. So replacing Joe Average defensive linemen shouldn’t be the cause of all of this doom and gloom, even though the TE coach shares his observations.
