Is he too tall for center 😬
He's likely more suited for Guard. I just felt watching film from that little school he came from he should be making 15-20 tackles a game. Instead, he looked like he was headed to NAIA or that level.

I hope he shuts me up this year, cause I've had a hard time giving him kudos. And he's probably a really nice kid. I just didn't buy all the hype with the fishing and hunting with SF. But, it is year 3 for him, so either he brings it or he's just another one that SF and that last bunch missed on.

Like one of the posters said, NU hasn't done crap with the DL recruiting and man is NU in the wrong conference for a team that likely can't stop the run.

Nothing like Purdue, Illinois, Michigan....hell all the Big Ten teams just running it down NU's throat. Unless somehow NU can grab at least and hopefully 2 kids from the portal that can come in and challenge then take over. The seasons hinges on it.

He could be the most well known "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane" we have had for a while.

I think fans get captivated by a few things...

Weight room videos
His Dad
Small town (sort of)
He's strong and works hard, but so do hundreds of other DI linemen. Between Ty, Nash, and Benhart's Dad, I had seen enough. LOL

I like the Peters, Noonans, Suhs, you know, the animals. Wish we had one.

The kid will be a third year player this fall. Neither Chins nor Dawson are hype machines when it comes to players. They are more likely to talk about the need to improve. Hutmacher hasn't had the opportunity to rep much against the ones, as he's been buried on the depth chart. He's getting a lot of that this spring.

I have faith in Rodgers and TY taking over that middle part of the line, it’s just finding your third and fourth d-lineman to run some of those fronts we saw last year. Then, it’s finding your second string guys to back up the starting 3 for this year…!! We need transfer portal D-Line guys in a bad way…

Saw Hutmacher wrestle in the SD state tourney and also watched one of his high school FB games. Not too late to call Manning. Seriously, he is an NCAA All-American at 285 next year. Not seeing it as even honorable mention BIg Ten DT, but time will tell and maybe his heart is with FB.

Jesus Christ, as a RS freshman, the kid was playing behind a Stille, Deontre and Daniels (combined 16 years in the program), plus Casey Rogers and Ty Robinson. The year before that he was a true frosh. Do you get a charge out of slagging a kid you don't know?
Chinander and Dawson handle discussions of players the same way I would. I am much more likely to talk about the things a player needs to improve as opposed to hyping their strengths.

There's an "lol" there for a reason WV. What I said was far from insulting or a critical attack, so pick a different adjective.

NU has had a history of kids breaking out within 2 years on the DL, and they were playing behind a helluva lot better players than the guys NU lost last year.

I already said I don't know the kid. By the way, my son is one of Chinander's best friends for the last 22 years. And yes, Erik is soft on compliments, but that's his style, and he's always consistent.

I don't feel like I need to explain what I said about the kid to you. If he's good, he'll show it, and I did say, I hope he proves me wrong. (Earlier in this thread).

He'll be given his chance.

And can you make a point without the profanity?
