I'm tired of giving him a pass..show up one game and fold in the next 3. With the ability of this man he has no killer instinct. Soft. Complete Charmin ultra soft. I hate saying this about our guys but I'm tired of the excuses for him. You had family and friends in the building and they watched you have 0 points and foul out in completely limited minutes. You are a leader or supposed to be and he never acts like it!

I agree, sorry he's had knee issues but he's been a huge disappointment during his time here- not a total bust I guess. His leaving will have zero impact on the program - we were much better with a healthy Willis.

Yeah my thread I made about it got taken down. But I cant wait til he's gone. He plays like he doesn't care if we win or lose. He plays like he doesn't care if he plays well or even makes it to the league. I've said it before. And go ahead ad blast me for it now. But maybe if he wasn't so smart he'd be a better basketball player. Then maybe he'd have that alpha male, dominant personality and go out there and be the biggest, strongest, most dominant player on the floor like he's capable of. He doesn't care enough about basketball. Basketball should be the most important thing on his mind.

It will be refreshing to not see his name on the back of a Kentucky uniform. No excuse to disappear. His passive, don't care attitude is a disgrace to the Kentucky uniform

Poythress didn't have a chance to play , he got called for some weak fouls . On one the Vandy player ran into him from behind and they called Poy for the foul .

Aren't you tired of making excuses for Alex? How do you and others keep up with all of them? Do you have a roladex of excuses that you just flip over every other game?

He wasn't allowed to play , how do you foul a guy who is behind you and runs into you ? I have criticized his play in the past but today was the refs taking him out for unbelievable calls . I don't sit around like you waiting for a player I don't like to fail so I can be a loser about it . If it was Willis you would be furious at the refs for the bad calls .

What a terrible dumb post. That's what Calipari should do, recruit only dumb players.

That is at least a new excuse. Why do you assume that I don't like Alex? Never mind. I don't need to convince you otherwise. His career is enough evidence to prove my point.

Alex knows he has a career regardless of the outcome of his play. He's a straight A student who will have a master's degree in his field. Does this have an effect on whether or not he exerts that killer extinct? It has to be. Let's say Alex was a normal student with normal grades. What would his basketball personality be like? As of this day and if something doesn't change he will be the player that never was

He's not working at Walmart. He's the last guy I'm worried about making a living if basketball doesn't work out.

He hasn't disappointed me since about midway through his sophomore season. I'm seeing some of the same things in Mathews .

Matthews is a fresh at this point he gets a pass. If he doesn't progress in any way shape or form as a senior I'll agree with you
But as of now your comparing an 18 year old to a 22 year old.

Alex is going to be fine and set for the rest of his life no matter what happens. He's too good of a kid not to be. But as in playing the game of basketball their isn't a GM in the league who would even consider him with the last pick in the draft.

I'm thrilled about what a great student he is. That's admirable. Saying that, I don't watch Kentucky basketball because our players are elite students, I watch passionately, every game, because we have elite athletes that represent the greatest tradition in college basketball and the elite of our elites doesn't really care about basketball? You can't be that smart if you don't take advantage of the opportunity he's been given. Then again maybe he has taken advantage of his opportunity.

Some of you guys are terrible. Yes, he's inconsistent, but take it down a few notches.

If we didn't have Poy Lousiville beats us in 2014 Sweet 16.
This is 2016.. he's two years older and has gotten increasingly worse as a player. No emotion. Inconsistent. Foul prone. Cant shoot. Foul. Doesn't move his feet. Foul. But can jump out of the gym. But he's stacked with muscles.

I like Alex and I hope and think he will be successful in life. With that said I'm glad he's finishing up his career and moving on. He seems like a fine young man and his future is bright but he seemed to have so much potential in the basketball arena it's a shame he didn't develop into an NBA talent. Still wish him the best.

This post is offensive. This kid graduated in 3 years and his working towards an advanced degree. From your posts, I can only assume that he is both better at basketball than you, and more educated.

Fair point. But 6'6 guys that are built like guards but play inside are hard to win with . Plus I haven't seen ANY improvement this year . And he could have really contributed this year . I'm not so sure next year. He better learn to shoot. JMO .

You argued matthews is Poy...Poy isn't not built like a guard. He's built like a Greek god. What's his excuse

The key with Alex is to get him engaged early in the game or as soon as he comes in. Run a couple of plays for him. Let him get a lob/dunk play. Post up his man.

Again, those cheap fouls continue. We aren't the kids coached on how defend effectively without committing stupid fouls. And when they go foul, they get nothing out it...it's usually a plus one.

You forgot the torn ACL and mysterious issue with the right knee.

I'm not apologizing for AP's lack of production by any means, but him being an inconsistent player still affects your life in no such way, correct?

Xception, that would pi$$ most players off, and they would try harder, but not Poy. He just stuck his head in the sand. After the last game, they asked him about the loss, and he said, "It's just a basketball game." He's right, but you come to UK to play basketball, and it's more then a game to most UK fans.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!
