Minus all the negatives about the game today, Poythress played like man. This is great sign for what's to come and it helps him build confidence.

I loved seeing him go after loose balls with reckless abandon. Tells me he isn't thinking about the knee but playing on instinct.

Biggest positive of the night was his aggressiveness defensively and on the glass. Starting to show signs of his old self again.

I appreciate the leadership he brings to this team. He hustles, is the first to help a guy up or break up a scuffle. That about getting a double double (or close to it) most nights make him a solid contributor.

Murray seemed primed to retaliate. So, thank you, Mr. Poythress.

If Illinois State's fouling wasn't a one-off tactic just for us, I imagine we'll be hearing about a bad fight that involves them later in the year. The fouls on Murray and Matthews were off the hook.

Agreed. He didn't finish every play like I believe he can, but that will come. The most positive thing was his aggressiveness and his playing with abandon out there. Calipari has said he just needs to be an elite athlete, and that's what we saw last night. The effort he was giving will turn into more production as time goes. I think we're about to see a big game from Alex very soon.

On this team, how far up in the draft can Alex play himself back? I think he could slip into the first round if he can lock down a starting role, rebound in the double digits, and defend like hell. He is going to be hard pressed to define his offensive identity on this team. But a consistent NBA playoff contender might see enough value in him at combines/workouts to take a late first round flyer.

I think he's playing better than his past. :-D I just think he has so much more to offer as well.

He's rebounding at insane rate of 7 RPG with only 22 minutes of game play. that's impressive.

If he can polish his other area, he'll be posting great stats. His STL and BLK per game is at .7. Which should be 1.5 and .7 once he get back 100% and plays 30+ minutes.

He hit over 40% his freshman year cuz he wasn't trying to create his own shot. If he's open, he should take em.

I think it's mental issue.

He was money from 3 during exhibition and any other game. Now when he is wide open...****'s not falling. He has the ability, but his mind is putting too much pressure on himself.
