So I take it you weren’t around for the 96 Cats. Fair enough.

Walter McCarty was a stretch 4 before the stretch 4 became a necessary part of the game. The guy was 6’10” and could put it on the floor. He shot 47% from 3 point range his junior year.
No I heard my dad talk about that team a lot I was born in 2003 so I didnt get to watch that team, I have to got to hear about them. And see a couple of YouTube videos

Better ask brooks first.
Yeah it’s amazing a player that single handedly lost multiple games for us this year was dictating what first team all Americans could and couldn’t join the team.
Cal still played his brand of 2 trees down low clogging the lane, but he did it with undersized 4’s holding the second spot instead of another actual big.

Unfortunately all the footage on YouTube of that team looks like it was filmed on a toaster. I know people say the game is so much different now than it was in 96, but you could transport that team to 2022 and it would instantly translate. Truly ahead of their time. All 5 guys on the court at any moment could step out and hit the 3. Like I said, the starting 4 AND 5 both shot over 40% from 3. Unreal skill level and talent on that basketball team.

A lot people say they were the best championship team, I didn’t get to see them play so that’s why I don’t understand I wish I did, it like the MJ vs Lebron debate for my group, I see lebron everyday play, I have seen videos of MJ seeing somebody play live just does more than watching videos

Forgive me if I don’t watch a Utah Valley guy’s highlight video on the day I should be watching the Cats play in the NCAA tournament. Not in the mood.

I’m 41 and they’re unquestionably the best team of my lifetime, Kentucky or otherwise.

Wish I would have gotten to watch them, for me it’s 2012. Anthony Davis is the best college player I’ve ever seen besides maybe Zion he is the only one close. I thought Grady was going to be like lamb was and hit big shots and not forget how to shoot

At the same time one of the most suffocating and demoralizing defenses I've ever seen.

Just remember my post. I didn’t say they had to play together. Karl Towns and Dakari Johnson and Willie split time in the post. A good coach with a good system could sell them on being on the same roster. I am 69 and the 96 team is the best team ever. Pitino had 11-12 guys and was not afraid to play them. Cal should take note.

Good point If Kentucky could pull that off I would be for it the problem is The patience with the players Is thinner today along with the coaches

Idiot. I am not saying a Curry / Morant quality player are transferring to UK or anywhere else, he would go to the league. My point was that just because a player is at a mid- major foes not mean he is legtovers or trash. But if players that good can come from a MM, then guys a step below can as well, guys who can perform as good or better than 50% of the 5* in coming FR.
With a transfer you know more what you are getting, so you have a higher floor than a 5* FR but also a lower ceiling.

Also some players are very good college players but not pro material, maybe because undersized or a step slow, and this under recruited.
And some players simply take longer to develop. The extreme example was a 6’7 low rated F that went to Navy, and 3 years later was a 7’0 AA and future Dream Team player.
So you’re fine with tubby players and a ****** coach coaching them. A recipe for disaster, got it.
