According to reports Trump is weighing an escalation of the non-conflict. We're going to super obliterate them if they don't go back to begging for a deal.
Big guys with tattoos who never cry are going to walk up to Trump with tears in their eyes and say, "Sir! Thank you for super obliterating the RADICAL Iran even though they were obliterated a couple months ago and have no army or navy or air force, sir! You killed them like dogs, sir!" They really say that—can you believe it? Many people are saying it. Tremendous people with beautiful words.

I don't see what the problem is. This is STANDARD Trump practice. Like during COVID, he suggested that stopping COVID testing would bring the COVID rates down. The Trump admin has stopped lots of Food testing to reduce rates of food poisoning. After all as the saying goes, when the numbers don't say what you want, change the numbers. It's all good.

Like any of the Trumpians on here care about the Constitution, Laws, truth or lies or even the deaths of US troops as long as Trump looks good. That's just the way it is now. So if you have to change the status of US troops to make Trump's war look good, they are going to have NO PROBLEM with it.

They have been pretty open about not supporting women or minorities, and three of the four fall into that category.
What do you think is going to happen? This is about optics for the WH/DoD and really has little to do with the service members or their families. Their benefits are directly tied to line-of-duty status and cause of death, NOT whether they're counted in a specific campaign's casualty statistics.

Unless the WH comes out with some bs narrative that these four service memebers were traitors or something, what the family receives is completely unaffected by this...$100k death gratuity, $500k SGLI, burial honors, ed benifies, etc.

We all know where and how they were killed, so the story is the WH is doing likely doing something dumb to skew perception. It's really nothing more than that IMO.

so you think this Iran "excursions" and the constant, "war will be over shortly","we've obliterated their navy an air force" makes trump look good? I'll agree that only true trump believers put stock in these statements anymore.

Per google (which is probably Gemini): The federal government does spend tens of billions of dollars annually through nonprofit organizations and charities for public services, but Trump's specific claim that "our government gives away $40 billion-plus a year to charity" has not been substantiated, and the White House did not identify the source of that figure when asked.

Look, I don't necessarily disagree w/ what you posted...I'm just looking at it objectively. IMO this is likely someone in the admin/DoD manipulating data points. I doubt Trump personally woke up and thought, "How can I screw families of these four servicemembers?" NOt sure what purpose that would serve...politically or for his ego.

My guess is this is some last ditch effort to improve the optics of the conflict (if that's even possible). Fewer officially counted war casualties looks better to the public than more. That doesn't make it right, but it's a very different than intentionally targeting Gold Star families. Now, if later we find out families are actually being denied benefits or honors because of this, we can have a raise hell thread then. ;)
Look, why do you keep trying to ascribe traits like honor and decency to anything Trump says or does?
He doesn't give AF about anyone but himself. If in his twisted mind it protects his ego to deny benefits and honors to someone who died because of him, he'll do it. He's a bottomless hole of narcissism. ;)

Again, him actively meddling in denying family members benefits really doesn't serve his ego. Like I said above, they'll be listed as KIA and be entitled to benefits unless the DoD comes out with some weird storyline that all four were traitors or something. If this were Vegas odds, I'd go with 95/5 that the families receive every benefit they're entitled to, and 5/95 that Trump is personally trying to screw over the families.
He's a bottomless hole of narcissism. ;)
You'll get no arguement from me.

Nope, I just think that at this point the Trumpians on here just don't give a **** anymore. They are 100% behind Trump. So when Trump tells them the Iranian navy/airforce is completely destroyed, they TOTALLY believe him. Just like they believed him the previous 10 times he said it. There's no logical reasoning behind it. The GOP has all kinds of principles (EXCEPT for when it involves Trump). The bottom line here is that there's NOTHING Trump can do that will shake that support. Remember when the GOP was going NUTS over Hunter Biden's position on foreign boards and getting paid big money for it by said foreign companies. UNETHICAL!! But Jared gets 2 BILLION in foreign investment after leading the US government's efforts into peace in the middle east? Crickets. Don Jr. and Erik's company is getting no bid contracts from the DOD? Crickets.

I know you've been on this Board a minute (25 years), so you can remember the Trumpians on here blowing up the board (I THINK it was The Bad Apple at the time). over pictures of Gates and company with Epstein. No evidence needed then... these guys needed to go to jail and go to jail NOW. It's a shame all that history vanished when we went to ON3. They were all about releasing the files until Trump told them they didn't care about that. Now it's all crickets.

That's my point. Trumpians (I've long since stopped calling them Americans) are for Trump. Nothing anyone can say will change that.
