I get you're trying to make your case, but don't act dumb.

Nobody said he had to win every game. Please point me to any post on this board where someone said Cal had to win every game.

There's a difference between 1 loss and 10. 2011 and 2014 lost a lot during the regular season. As talented as those teams were, they shouldn't have lost that many games.

If they took care of business like they should have, they wouldn't have had the seeds they had.

You're wasting your time using logic with the sunshine pumpers. Remember the clear path to the Final 4 until K St said "not today" or last year, a man down Auburn team embarrassed us? They had all the excuses.
Bottom line, as you know, the losses at Evansville and Utah will hurt our seeding tremendously.
These sunshine pumpers NOW only care about March, making excuses after each bad loss. Their bar for the team is Sweet 16 or E8 now. Its comical how they all lowered their standards for UK basketball.
Nick Saban has had top 3 recruiting classes during the same time Cal has. Results are drastically different.

I never asked you to tell me who Cal outcoached. I believe you have me confused with someone else.
My apologies, the original comment you replied to was my response to this.
I love Cal. Think he's the only person on the planet for this job. ...but It's OK to criticize the highest paid coach, that doesn't have any sense of an Offense. I'll post my name if you can give me one example of Cal outcoaching someone.

Everyone understands that winning titles is hard. But Calipari has something that none of our previous coaches had. He has the ability to recruit and motivate better than anyone.

Also, UK has given him an unlimited recruiting budget and the best facilities in the college game.

Calipari chose to create a one and done culture that caters to the NBA and has created a situation where we have an extremely young team every year.

That's his choice, which is fine when you get the top tier players, but he's not getting top tier players, yet they're all still leaving early and he has to teach all the new puppies how to pee on the newspaper the next year.

If he focused on building rosters properly, instead of losing marginal players and having to replace them with 2nd tier HS kids, that are left over after the top tier guys turned their noses up at us, he would be killing it. UK is paying him 9 mill to feed the NBA.

Yeah, winning titles is hard, but Cal has the keys to a dynasty, he just chose to use those keys for something that isn't in UK's best interest.
You make valid points that are prolly not discussed if he wins 15 title and the rofferee doesn't happen

These threads are so damned stupid.

I guess Im not a dedicated Reds fan and cant celebrate a World Series because Ive pointed out the front office needs to spend some damned money to buy players we need.

I guess I cant celebrate the Bengals finally winning a playoff game because Ive called Mike Brown a cheapskate ********** and that Marvin Lewis needed to go 10 yrs ago.

This UK team is playing bad basketball. I dont know why a section of our fan base tries to pride themselves on ignoring it, like it somehow makes you a better person. It doesnt. It makes you naive. Calling them out for being bad right now doesnt make anyone a bad fan. It makes them realistic.

When the team plays bad, they will be called out for it. When they play well, they will be praised. UK fandom isnt an either or proposition. Frankly this notion is completely assinine. If you are OK with the way things are right now, you need your head checked. It doesnt mean if they get things figured out they wont deserve praise.

They played OK yesterday, better than Utah and Georgia Tech. There's a difference between getting beat in a 40 minute boxing match, v getting beat because of poor coaching and half assed effort on the floor. Im not going to "rah-rah" the latter and thats what we've seen several games this year
Very well written post. I agree whole heartedly and have been one of the realist fans ever since I can remember. Like STL said, we get lumped in with the negative nancies and the “far cal!” Numbskulls. I think more people are becoming realists though. I’ve noticed a change in tone of several posters who used to call me and others out.

I don’t understand why some people think RR is the place where UK fans come to praise the cats. It’s the place we come to discuss the cats. And most of us aren’t going to praise a team playing below it’s caliber.

I just wonder what you pumpers are gonna say when Louisville hands Cal another fat L in a week?

Another? How may times.has Louisville beat Ky while Cal has been here? It doesn't take "pumper" to see Cal's Dominance over Louisville. But it does take a sad troll to pretend it doesn't exist.

I love having Cal here. He is the perfect person for this job. That doesn't mean he does his job perfectly. He needs to take a long look in the mirror and decide how he wants his legacy here to be remembered.

Is it for having a great 6 year run with a title and 4 Final Four but letting things slip to the point where most of what is remembered is the shape of the program when he left? Or does he want to be known for all the great things with a little bit of a slide in the middle before reinventing himself and rebounding to finish just as he started?

It is clear as day what he did in the first 6 years just doesn't work as effectively now. The game has changed. The players no longer just go to the elite programs as their main paths to the NBA. So he has lost a big part of the advantage he once had. Yet he still does everything exactly the same and that's why you are seeing losses to teams like Utah and Evansville and earlier than expected tournament departures.

It is time to start making some changes or the criticisms will continue and only get worse. More and more fans are tired of the "process" followed by poor results and rebuilding every year (it used to be reloading). Pretty soon you will have a lot of people just not caring anymore and the players will be playing in a half empty arena.

Oh by the way, I am Spoonman.

Rebuilding instead of reloaded is a perfect analogy. A lot of folks on here live in a bubble apparently, but the people not caring is already happening . The vast majority of my family are diehards, I’m talking 50/60 years, but they just don’t care anymore. They love and watch, but if we lose or they miss a game, it’s more, eh. Hell, I’m that way as well and I’m a guy that’ll name you the starting lineups each year from the 70s on

Oh, at least you are making an apples to apples comparison.

Saban to Cal, it makes so much sense.

How about K and Cal?

Comparing a different sport to basketball and a coach that only has to win 2 playoff games to win a championship to one that has to win 6. Try again.

I want everyone of our supposed fans who run it about Cal sucking to sign their name right here. That way when we go to our next final four I don’t wanna hear you all celebrating like you been here all along.
Boy, you sure have changed your tune lol. I bet you feel pretty foolish, but at least you’ve not deleted this yet; so I’ll give you that

The threads last night and today go way beyond criticism. It’s been pure hate against our coach and our team. Criticism is ok. Hating not ok. You need to read the board more closely.
I’m a little different on this. I don’t mind criticism or hate. Just not every single day after every single game for years. Ugh

Damn somebody been waiting 3 years. I’m glad I’m the topic of discussion today though. I feel special. Thanks for remembering Because I sure don’t even remember this.
Lmao. I had no idea until someone brought this back. I’m just half heartedly taking my frustrations out on others to feel better about all this.

you can sign my name to the list

Cal is poison

Kentucky needs him gone asap. He has permanently lost the fanbase.

People despise this man as our coach.

I’ll say it like this. As long as Cal is the coach, UK will not win another championship. i hope that I’m wrong . Feel free to take my name, but please have the testicular fortitude to admit YOU were wrong if/ when this comes to pass.

Well you’ll see my name wasn’t on this list then . I’ve been saying this whole year that Cal should get next year because he was going to have the talent he needs for the first time since 2017. But that was including Sharpe. Sensible people now realize he won’t be here next year so ADD MY NAME TO THE LIST .
