MAS, where are you getting your numbers? In regards to JCA, they are wrong. Last year, you also posted that JCA had 158 when they had 191. Interesting?

Is that a low number for Rice? Not sure about MC, but SR is certainly low compared to past years. Should still be 7A for years to come.
BR down a bit but not overwhelmingly. Heard they had some quality players and basketball had best class in some years. Hockey is turning some heads as well.
Good number for Shamrocks. I think that's a really good number for DePaul. Anyone know what they tested last year ?
I apologize USD, I mistyped the number, was supposed to be JCA 168 not 158. Actually we are both wrong. JCA 177 and PC 327 are the actual numbers reported to the Diocese.
That is where MC has been. Looking at the#s you can see Marist reaping the benefits of a runner up finish. Heard they got some good players. Laurence getting to semi clearly upped their #s and seemed to dent Rita a little with a 3-6 year

I am assuming good football players among that 220 boys testing? If Meteor can keep this up, they can join the Blue? I am sure Othellolost is OK with this!
I'll be honest, I have no idea if Rita got some promising players. I am concerned about the 203 number, though. Anyone with knowledge, please share. Are you surprised by BR's modestly low number, although not a concern presently?
If any new team joins the Blue it's Montini...you're crazy if you think otherwise, othellolost is happy with developing the freshies. Yes, a good football group on 35th, we will see how 2016 fairs for the Meteor
Rice probably a tad low but I heard they got some targeted kids. MC to test 220 is pretty good I think. MC SR definitely have more attrition then the others.to test 220 mayb 208 start they finish with 160. My hunch is that Laurence got some Rita kids to have their# up 30%

Still a work in progress, I'm sure Boehm will have the boys ready...They haven't even won the Green and you want them to move in the Blue??? The Blue doesn't want to stay together and DLS should move up?
Someone proposed it a while ago, but I actually liked that idea of mixing the whole Catholic League by geography. I thought the Meteor, SR, MC, Leo, BR . . . would be in one division while LA, GT, Fenwick . . . . would be in the other division, but I digress.
Interesting metric. Another one would be testers/capacity.
All these numbers being thrown around here are next to meaningless without additional context.
What really matter are the trendline (losing, gaining or maintaining) and whatever each school's historical yield is relative to testers who convert into freshmen matriculations.
I recently saw a statistic that said that private grade school graduates comprise about 30% of the total enrollment at the CPS academically selective Walter Payton College Prep and 20% at Northside College Prep.
How many of those kids who tested at DePaul Prep did so as their Plan B if they don't get admitted to Payton or Northside? How many DLS test takers are also applying to enroll at Whitney Young or Jones College Prep? Of those who tested at Christ the King, how many really want to attend Young? This dynamic of using Catholic schools as a Plan B holds true for all of the city Catholic high schools (even Ignatius) and a bunch of suburban Catholic high schools (Loyola, Regina, Notre Dame, Guerin, Laurence, Peace, Fenwick,Trinity, etc.) that draw well from the city.
And then there's always money. How many of those kids who tested at MC and Rita, for example, need financial aid in order to attend, and what happens for those who aren't awarded enough?
What about a kid who tested at Guerin Prep because it was convenient to do so on that particular Saturday, but he intends to transfer those test scores to Pat's? How many kids who tested at Marist or PC get convinced by friends to join them at Sandburg or LWE? Or, what about the kid who tests at Ignatius, doesn't get accepted, and asks Ignatius to transfer his test scores to Cristo Rey? What about the parents who win the battle to have their kid test at Marian Catholic, but the kid ultimately wins the war and goes to H-F like he always wanted to do?
That kind of stuff happens more often than you might think.
Gross testing numbers are becoming less and less reliable as a means of determining incoming freshmen enrollment. It's all about YIELD. You could even have a situation whereby a school is maintaining or slowly growing their January test numbers, but if their yield is going south, so will their freshmen enrollment.

Ramblin, do your anecdotal examples of dualities (e.g. DeLaSalle/Jones) change dynamically? Brooks/MC is also an emerging CCL/CPS-SES duality, though it seems that school's ability to save you only works for your teen years (Leo also suffers from this curse, many a early 20 something Leo graduate has fallen victim to the streets, more victim then perpetrator). Kenwood's relative rise in FB and now BB might be the dagger to Hales in the mid - South Side ( I dont call the South Side east of the Dan Ryan the East Side like the millenials do - to me thats always east of the Calumet River).
