I would reach out to Mark Mangino who has more football head coaching experience than Ash, Coordinators and Assistants combined. Before responding please look at his accomplishments. This is a guy who will get the most out of his athletes and win!! An OC on a National Championship Oklahoma Sooner Team and a BCS Champion with Kansas. His salary won't break the bank. More importantly he'll bring in athletes that will produce and win. An offensive genius and maybe we can talk him into keeping Ash as a DC.

I first wanted Schiano back, but kind of knew thru rumblings that wasnt happening..my next choice was Fleck if RU wasnt going to spend the money instead of an assistant from another program..

Still have some doubt that this complete overhaul at Rutgers can be fixed by a staff of first timers.Narduzzi a Jersey guy at RU.with experience as HC............. we will never know.

I don't ever remember him being known as a recruiter with his weight issues, for what its worth i wanted a known recruiter like Orgeron/Durkin to bring nice talented DEPTH throughout the whole roster and if it didn't workout cut bait and be able to be more selective with the full B1G $$$$$ starting at that time

I'm never wrong but I posted in thread anyway. From day one I said Pernetti really F'd up when he gave the job to Flood. Unfortunately I was so right.
You were right but unfortunately due to timing as signing day was upon us what choice did he have? In retrospect if GS leaves a month earlier, KF never gets the job.

I never liked Ash from the start. Him staying for the OSU bowl game instead of going out recruiting for RU sealed it for me. I was shouted down here for saying so.

I did think we would go back to the Schiano attacking defenses of the past under Ash and that defense would become a strength again. Boy was I wrong about that one.

I knew we were in for a tough slog with Flood's inept recruiting classes filling the team depth. I would have been fine with a 6yr rebuild under Ash however the lack of any evidence of coaching up the team over the past few years, bringing in worse recruiting classes than Flood pulled in and the continual shitting on the program and our program history makes that position untenable.

Good riddance to bad rubbish is what I say!

I was fine with him staying for the Fiesta Bowl but with the absolute debacle we’ve seen this year (when he’s had some time to bring in his own guys; I was saying after 2014 that I was concerned about our LB, DL and WR recruiting and it’s all come to fruition) I’ve seen enough...we’re an instant highlight reel for whomever we play. It’s like watching squash matches on WWF Superstars in 1991, only everyone else is The Undertaker and we’re Doug Smith who doesn’t even get entrance music.

I was initially concerned he had no NJ ties, then the concerns rapidly escalated when he stayed at OSU for the bowl game instead of jumping into recruiting. Then his press conference was a joke and forget about “commanding the room,” he had zero charisma or ability to even speak intelligibly. Then he reportedly told NJ high school coaches to stop sending me “your pussies and send me your good players.” Then he dropped the RU awards and traditions. Then there were decomitmemts and bad recruiting. Ultimately bad choices for coaches, most importantly bad performance on the field (all of the preceding contributing to this), downward spiral. There has been no energy, poor fundamentals, and ongoing missteps. As a life-long RU fan going to games since the ‘60s I wanted him to succeed but it became increasingly clear it wouldn’t happen here.

It didn’t bother me at the time, but in hindsight he set himself up to fail. Maybe all the guys who were committed to Flood would have left anyway, but holding onto a guy like Rene would have helped.

I guess people can now post about being very wrong about being very wrong.
If you were wrong about being wrong, that means you were right.

So it turns out that two wrongs do actually make right.

I love threads like this and am glad i never posted.

I didn't post but I will admit this. I was just so f-ing happy that Flood was fired didnt care who they got. No one could have bad as that clown. I was wrong.
I had no opinion of Ash when he was hired simply because I had never heard of him. And than the stupid talk of the great interview fooled all Rutgers fans. The fix was in because of his agent was a client of Hobbs.

For the record, Ash signed with that agent AFTER he was hired not before.

I am glad I didn't post in this thread.

If you look back nearly everyone said Ash hit the ground running.

Lets chill with the stayed for the bowl game chatter as it's really not his problem, as opposed to hiring a weak staff and not being a CEO. Staying a few weeks is not his problem in year 3. All the other deficiencies are.

Context is everything.

This is an old thread. When it was posted the wrong that is being reference is the fact that most people thought that Barchi would never clean house and get rid of Flood and Hermann.

Gee, Guess my gut statement back then was 100% correct..should have hired FLECK and this was and IS today too big of a job for a asst coach HC wannabe.

Yes and he was working both jobs at the same time.

We were all wrong to a certain degree if we harbored hope of a bowl game this year. Guilty as charged, as I thought it was possible though not probable.

You really think there was no discussions before signing with agent or RU and that it had no-none-consideration in the overall situation---or the extension?

I went into this in another thread when it was discussed. I don't see any proof from the articles written that Bazant was hired after we hired him.

All I saw was a line that Hobbs, Ash and Pikiell all had Bazant as an agent. Not to mention that Willard (SHU hire by Hobbs) and Hurley/Lonergan (other candidates in our bb search) have him as an agent as well.

And the Kratch or Sarge comment that Hobbs may only look through his agent's rolodex for a hire or something of that sort.

Don't think this is a small issue, regardless of timing-and the extension was clearly done when all were signed up so not sure any arm's length. Please he's a licensed atty and the appearance of impropriety should govern with full disclosures to the BOG which hopefully occurred.
