I hesitate on that, because he's not safe where he's projected.
Also, look at his family. They are very religious and I get the impression that his father wouldn't be too thrilled about him cutting school short to risk a life in the GL or overseas. I don't think his parents would agree to that.

That's possible his parents talk him back to school. I would say the draft will be deeper next year than this year and his measurables won't change from one year to the next. He is what he is, so while the NBA may not care if he's the SEC player of the year, they may care that he can score.

Why is everyone saying they think Quickley comes back? I would think that Hagans was the player that proved he could use another season of play.......
IQ is a great college player, I mean great. Will that translate to next level? I hope so for his sake, but he is a tad undersized and doesn't have that explosive athleticism. He has a good shot but he isn't Steph Curry Again, I hope he is a perennial all star in the league

Take a look at Myles Powell from Seton Hall. He has dominated the Big East for 3 years, but he was a senior this year. He had better numbers his Sophomore and Junior years than IQ did, but his measurables are very similar, if not exactly the same, as IQ's are. He's 6'2" 195lbs. If he was 6'5", he would have left long before now.

We should all remember Powell. He almost singlehandedly beat us last season (2018-19).

Something Ben Roberts put in his latest:
There’s been some talk that Montgomery might’ve seen the type of breakthrough junior season Nick Richards had — going from not on anyone’s draft radar to probable draft pick — and decide a third year in college might be best for him, too.

If Montgomery does return, he might be in an even better spot to make that jump. Think about this: Richards played just 12.1 minutes per game as a sophomore and saw his playing time decrease dramatically at the end of that campaign. Montgomery played 24.1 minutes per game as a sophomore and was seemingly only getting better and more comfortable as this past season wore on. He could be a major, major factor for the 2020-21 Wildcats and put himself on NBA Draft boards if that potential is realized

I don't see it as the same situation. EJ will have a lot more competition than Richards has had this year. Unless he wants to become a post player, which I doubt, he will be battling Jackson and Ware for minutes. Richards only battled foul trouble for minutes. That means EJ won't get to play through many mistakes before getting put on the bench.

Ben Roberts put this together. Tentative and speculative but if we add a big that’s 12 scholarship players.

POSSIBLE UK BASKETBALL PLAYERS FOR NEXT SEASON

Current UK players Tyrese Maxey, Ashton Hagans and Nick Richards are expected to enter the NBA Draft — and Nate Sestina is out of college eligibility — but the Cats could still return a few players for next season. Here are the stats for the five current players generally thought to be the likeliest returnees — Dontaie Allen sat out all of this season — as well as info on UK's incoming recruits.

Player Pos Ht Wt PPG RPG APG MPG
Immanuel Quickley G 6-3 188 16.1 4.2 1.9 33.0
EJ Montgomery F 6-10 228 6.1 5.4 0.6 24.1
Keion Brooks F 6-7 205 4.5 3.2 0.2 15.1
Johnny Juzang G 6-6 214 2.9 1.9 0.3 12.3
Dontaie Allen G 6-6 200 — — — —
Devin Askew G 6-3 195 — — — —
Brandon Boston G 6-6 175 — — — —
Terrence Clarke G 6-7 185 — — — —
Cam'Ron Fletcher G/F 6-6 180 — — — —
Isaiah Jackson F 6-9 200 — — — —
Lance Ware F 6-9 215 — — — —

Table: Ben Roberts Get the data
Just for the sake of conversation I looked on NBA draft net they had Maxey at 22 and Richards at 34 and on Tankathon simulator they had Maxey at 12 and Richards at 57 with no mention of Hagans and Quickley.

Calipari wants things to happen on his time frame. Especially with no draft combine, he's just gonna sit back and see who returns and then the big guy will drop and if EJ goes he'll have another card in the deck.
EJ is a nice player, but I just don't see him playing Center or wanting to play Center. I think he can play some Center, but I think regardless Cal has to get another guy.

Yeah, we will need another big to come in if we lose Nick.

That said, EJ could play a McCarty-type role. Walter was a true stretch four, but he had success at the 5 because Pitino's motion offense allowed him to float on the perimeter and shoot when he was open. I would like to see EJ do something similar. He needs to get into the gym and become more competent from the perimeter, however.

Then you been saying the wrong thing. Why is it hard to understand? Quickley played the 2 guard all year and the NBA is full of great 2 guards. Quickley doesn't have the size to play that spot in the NBA. For Quickley to be drafted he has to show he can run a team from the point guard spot. That's the ONLY way he can think of getting drafted with his athleticism and size. Next year's roster is perfect for him to show out from the point guard spot. Nobody gives a rats *** about SEC player of the year and that bull when it comes to the NBA.
As for Hagans, he needs to leave. He can't play the 2 cause he can't shoot. He hasn't had a lot of luck from the point guard spot so his draft stock probably won't get much higher. Plus, he's shown he doesn't want to be there and this years draft is weak. Our team would be better off next year if he just went over seas or to the G League.

So, to be clear, do you actually know a name and won't release it OR are you speculating that he already has a big from other reports/rumors?

I actually think there's a good chance Mintz starts at PG to open the season. Askew may take over at some point.

Agreed. I think Askew starts by SEC play. I think both struggle, but Askew is the better athlete, so I’m giving him the slight edge.
