Since Bolden decided to be a fool. Who are some 17 guys who could possibly reclassify? I think we may add another guy even if Briscoe/Lee return. So....Who? I know Ayton was being talked about like last year, but people seem to think he'll be ruled ineligible. So what about maybe one of Nick Richards, Ikechukwu Obiagu, etc. Or what guards are possibilities. Lonnie Walker??? More than likely 1-2 of the 17 guys will reclassify. Last year just off the top of my head you had Murray, Humphries, and Thornton. So..... Thoughts???

I don't think anyone is close to being able to do that unless they go to a couple sessions of summer school

Why doesn't Poy take a medical redshirt from his ACL tear his junior year? Think he only played in 8 games.
Amile Jefferson who was granted a 5th year played in 9 games this past year.

I'd love to see Lonnie Walker reclassify and commit to UK. Wow. Even if Briscoe is back. That'd be a major get IMO. The kid's a lights out shooter.

I'd say he wants to move on with his life,, the next step of whatever that may be.. I'm going to guess he trys pro ball here or overseas for a couple years or so then fall back onto his degrees.. He looked burnt out on bball last year to me..

IMO a reclass will not want to come to UK just to be a backup. They want to play. Not happening this year at UK.

I wonder how word gets out there of teams wanting grad transfers? You can't actively recruit players on another team. Do they put the word out through back channels or are they forced to wait until someone contacts them and says that they want to be a grad transfer and see if they or another school on their list is interested? Then officially announce they are transferring when they have a guaranteed scholarship available?

This. I think he's ready to transition to the next phase of his life. He's gotten his degree(s) and is ready to move on. Plus, his twin sister is graduating UK and will be moving on with her life as well so there's not much incentive for him to stay outside of playing another season in Lexington and I think he's about through with all of that to be honest. He'll give pro basketball (NBA or Euro) a solid shot and if it doesn't work out he'll take the next step from there.

I'd rather Cal add a grad transfer than a reclassify. We could use another experienced guard/wing that can shoot, especially if Briscoe leaves.
if we have to have one, I agree.
I'm not crazy about the reclassifications anyway - I know sometimes that you have a guy who is an older junior (maybe a late birthday, or even held back a year) but most are awfully young. As many of you know, the difference in maturity in ONE year for a teenager can be huge. Yes, I'm aware it can work out - and has, but still.

You can recruit them once they get a release

All we need is Briscoe back.. And I'd take Lee because he knows the system and could play well next to Bam. Give me those two back and the rest and lets roll out the ball.

Just read this from Bossi. I would definitely take Ham Diallo a year early.

The battle: Connecticut vs. Kentucky.

Bossi’s take: It would be foolish to discount the early groundwork and effort put into Diallo’s recruitment by Kevin Ollie and the Huskies. However, Kentucky seems to be making a pretty big push in the athletic wing’s recruitment. Syracuse will also be involved. There’s always rumors that Diallo could enroll as a 2016 prospect.

I would too -- but not if Briscoe comes back obviously. We're really going to need some guards next year.

I would rather have Briscoe back than Diallo a year early, but if we lose Briscoe, then Diallo is the perfect replacement. Gives us that third guard we need. We will go small again, but that's fine. Going small is not a problem when you have a post presence and rebounders. Fox, Monk, Diallo, Gabriel, and Bam start with Hawkins, Willis, and one of Lee (if he returns), Humphries, or SKJ getting lots of minutes off the bench for a solid 8-man rotation.

If Diallo reclassifies, I would think that is a good sign for us, since UConn is the chief competition and I think they are pretty loaded at guard with Purvis just recently announcing his return. I think after Murray's performance last year, Diallo would be pretty enticed to come here and maybe be a lottery pick.

At least this gives us some hope for some backcourt depth if Briscoe bails.
