This kid could be exactly what we need. Shot blocking presence and can work in tandem with Cliff

We are still in the market for a guard, regardless of Baker..& any bigs we can add, especially the fill void of Myles skill set are an addition

If Baker/Harper return, we already have 11 scholarship players, and third big would take us to 12. I don't see us taking another guard if Baker is indicating to the staff that he's staying - but if he goes, we'd definitely be looking to fill a hole.

Not super interested.

Remember Kevin Marfo? He was at Quinnipiac and led the nation in rebounding. Transferred up to Texas A&M and was pretty bad.

MAAC to power leagues is a HUGE jump. Takal Molson (Canisius) is back in the transfer portal after a bad year at Seton Hall. Dimencio Vaughn (Rider) got no playing time at Ole Miss. Frederick Scott (Rider) was bad at Boston College. Ray Salnave (Monmouth) was terrible for DePaul. Aaron Estrada (St. Peter's) barely played at Oregon.

There are a few success stories (Donald Carey at Georgetown) but it's a huge gamble. Considering that Ndefo isn't a particularly good shooter or rebounder, I have serious doubts about his effectiveness at the power conference level.

Based on Pike’s podcast, I think any 2021 guard we’d add at this point would be a high school shooting guard. If he really likes a kid who decommits due to a coaching change, portal movement, etc.

We’re already bringing in a frosh PG (Miller), a combo guard forward (Jones) and expect to return 30 mpg and 27 mpg guards along with a 22 mpg combo guard / forward. There aren’t enough guaranteed minutes to attract a proven portal kid or JUCO who will want to play immediately.

With forward - we have all unproven guys and RHJ (and whatever time Caleb gets at wing) so the move was much more attractive for a kid like Hyatt.

PT and desire to go home are the biggest drivers of portal movement.

Except Carino said in reply to a tweet that taking a player from Holloway would be a really questionable and relationship killing move (my interpretation) by the Hall.
Where did he say that? I'm not doubting he did, but it's not in the tweet. Saw some of that twitter thread---still not sure I'd agree with him anyway, the kid is transferring somewhere, so why would SHU be questionable or relationship-killing?

Big Ten>Big East>Atlantic Ten

After that where would you rate the Northeastern Conferences such as America East, NEC, MAAC, Ivy, Patriot, Colonial

Not by what some organization says, but by your own eyes.

If the kid transfers from Saint Peter’s to South Orange Tech and it was orchestrated by handlers or people connected with the Pirates, I could see that causing some issues.

Relationship killing? Putting together the best possible roster is all that matters. At the Div-1 level, stepping on toes is a part of competing. Do you think Ryan Day called Coach Ash to apologize when he poached Jonah Jackson?

I think that "terrible" is a bit extreme -- he did get 12 rebounds and 8 points per 40 min. at A&M on 48% shooting -- compared, for example, to Myles' 14 rebounds and 13 points per 40, so as a backup I would have been happy if he came here rather than go back to Quinnipiac.

Right, but were Ash and Day close friends? Nothing makes me think that. And KC Ndefo is a much bigger deal to his current program than Jonah was to Rutgers in the big picture (even though he did well at tOSU). I would be very surprised if Ndefo wound up at Seton Hall at all, and certainly without Holloway's complete blessing.

If the guy is leaving whether it's shu or not, I don't see any issues with Holloway unless it was orchestrated behind his back. I doubt Pikiell apologized to Stony Brook for taking Yeboah in '19-20; I won't lol.

I have seen every game this kid has played for the Peacocks....he will be a great fit for RU and will be a fan favorite...even in the Big 10, he will be a shot blocking and rebounding machine...incredible wingspan...can step out and hit the 3 also...I know I am biased with SPU and RU being my too favorite teams and affiliations..still gutted from him leaving..

He's 2 of 17 from 3 this past season and 0-4 from 3 the year before. Not to say every player in the portal has to be a 3 point shooter, but 2-21 in last 2 seasons and 8 of 48 from 3 for his 3 year career is 16.7%....and is he a backup center at 6'7"....???

I can't comment on his defense or play. I haven't seen him play once and if I did, I didn't remember who it was or when.

As always, I will defer to the staff on a defense and rebounding person but my first thought would be, "What would current RU frosh, Mawot Mag's stat line be in the MAAC, if he played these amount of minutes that this kid has there, over the next 3 years??"".....

To be fair I said "pretty bad" but yeah he was playable I guess. But there's a reason he lost minutes as the season went on.

He’s a tough kid too.. I truly believe he would find a way to be successful in the Big 10 as an undersized 4...just my opinion...

I am on board with whomever the staff looks at for an upgrade...if you believe he is a contributing player, I can't dispute that, not having seen him play.

We can not play a guy like this at the "4"! We will lose every game 45-36.

If the staff thinks he is a better fit than Reiber as Cliff's back up and they aren't better options I am for it.

I like shot blocking, I just don't know how block % metrics translates from MAAC to B1G.

It is worth noting St. Peter's was a very good defensive team last year!

It is also worth noting they were an atrocious offensive team.

Records by conference in the NCAA tournament into 2019, is a pretty accurate assessment for how the conferences in the Northeast/East rank overall.

1) Colonial 21-33
2) Ivy 8-33
3) Patriot 3-25
4) MAAC 5-33
5) American East 1-20
6) NEC 0-25

Colonial and Ivy are mid majors, Patriot and MAAC are lower-mid majors, and AE and NEC are low majors, but there are exceptions where low major and lower-mid can be mid major teams for 1-2 year periods.

A B1G PF that's only 6-6/190 lbs? Harper's an undersized PF at 6-6/245 - Ndefo has basically a B1G SG body, not a PF.

If he could put on some weight before the season started I’d be interested about what he could do. A 6 ft 7 220 guy could make an impact on this level.

Sorry for the misquote, that’s not something I usually do but I was doing several things at once. I still would have been good with him as a role player though, and I also expect that he would have improved from “playable” to a little more playable under this staffs off-season tutelage. But it’s all academic now.
