James Adams from Queens has transferred to Rutgers. He’s a 6’2 200lbs athletic LSM.

I’m a little surprised by this. Splaine is a stud, and I thought the freshman Kyle Worsnup showed promise in his minutes.

How many YOE does Adams have? If he’s more than a one year portal rental, I guess I can understand since BB is thinking of the future too.

Answering my own question, he’s listed on the Queens roster as “Deacon Adams,” and he will have 2 years of eligibility.

He played in 2024 and 2025 for Queens. This year, he scored 7 goals on 16 shots from his LSM position, and he had 42 GBs and 19 CTs. So he was very productive for what was a very bad (3-11, 0-5) Queens squad.

Worsnup is definitely a player. This opens up a move for Splaine to close if the DC wants.

Or maybe they want Adams for close? He’s bigger than Splaine (6-2, 200 vs. 5-10, 190), and I’d really hate to move a potential AA LSM out of his natural position.

Good problem to have though.
He's not a potential All American, USA Lacrosse named him one.

With the other transfer we have that hasn't been announced yet, I think you'd have to consider it. Our D will be 6'5, 6'3, and that third spot you would want someone who can match feet with smaller quicker guys, which every attack seems to have one of now. Stephanos was that guy this past season. He had great feet and could stay in front of those guys. There will be options though. Groff who they are high on and Udovich who was a starter in 24 can also play close or LSM.

Agree with your point though. Ideally you'd want to keep Splaine right where he is. He's a clone of Rall who is an absolute wrecking ball.

Every top team looks to add talent via the portal. IMO you can never have too many potentially productive bodies (and depth)

I know fans, parents, and alumni sometimes wonder about lockeroom impacts and guys getting recruited over, but trust me when I say the players understand what they have signed up for at this level…nothing is guaranteed year over year…kids want to win and if you can add productive parts in the offseason…that’s what you do….have to do it to keep up

Go RU!

I’ve heard Brecht say to the guys, “it’s my job to bring in the best players I can. It’s your job to be better than they are”.

There are no surprises.

Yea this isn’t CYO basketball. You know exactly what is expected of you and what it takes to get on the field at this level. Kids that are not up to par figure it out pretty quickly.

He's far too athletic and skilled compared to the other players at that level. We scrimmaged Adelphi in the fall. I didn't think much about it at the time but I remember asking how the scrimmage went and Brian saying they had a baller on their team. This was obviously the kid he was talking about.

That kid looks like the second coming of Shane Knobloch. Yes, he plays D2 competition, but you can see the skills jump off the film — elite quickness and dodging ability, great vision, and an ability to rip and score from any spot on the field and from any angle.

I would never put anyone in Shane’s category but there are definitely similarities. Both have super snappy wrists too

i know you mentioned we are pretty much done in the portal except for this kid, but does that include FO? I believe Paolatto and Barnard are done, so are we just rocking with the underclassmen or did we grab someone and I missed it?

They made a strong run at the guy who is going to Maryland but other than that I think they are going with what they have

Outside of getting what some consider the best OC in the game in Coach Bieda back, not much. It's all camps and scouting now.

Good to see our guys in the PLL doing well!
Thanks. Did that D2 middie commit anywhere?
