From what I understand it's the schools that are mostly against it. Think it has to deal with everything that goes into making them employees that schools don't want.

Correct. The NBA players are professionals (employees) and members of a player's union. The union has entered into a collective bargaining agreement with the NBA. No such thing (at present) exists in college basketball.

I actually think I'm in favor of college players as employees, forming a player's union, and entering into a CBA with the NCAA. At least it would be better than the current unenforceable free-for-all. A CBA would theoretically provide a framework for enforcing things like no tampering and no under-the-table payments, which are some major impediments to enforcing a salary structure and a "only one transfer without sitting out" rule under the current system.

Yeah, that just did not sound viable. Not sure ISU guys want to come to Iowa City, other than for one game. Transfers are unlikely
