Stokes behavior was more of a reflection of his poor character than it was ever an indictment of Pope. The kid no doubt has talent but everyone is aware that his character is questionable. It is yet to be seen whether he is a big benefit to Kansas or the biggest headache Bill Self has ever dealt with.

Last year’s team was the number 2 class according to many.

They just weren’t used properly. Nor will this class be.

UK has not had a player problem under Pope. UK has a coaching problem.

He does nothing well as a coach.

UK will not be a player on the major stage until Pope is shown the door.

I believe he will be fired mid season next season.

Then let the healing begin.

However your logic might be tainted in that it was Pope who had the smarts to cut two coaches who had not been making the right connections in favor of Mo Williams who has seemingly turned the tide. And perhaps Crawford is on the horizon? There is a good chance Spears or Keller or both end up at UK and that would be the greatest recruiting haul since Towns ,
Booker, and the Harrisons came in 2014.

OP you defeated your own argument using your own words. On one hand, you argued that getting Momcilovic wasn’t a recruiting win because of what we paid. However, even if what you said was 100% true, it only shows that recruiting is less important in today’s game. Why? Because every school pays and there are bidding wars based purely on money.

TLDR: In 2026, many recruiting battles are “who has the most money?” Simple as that.

By the way, I don’t buy that Mom’s decision was exclusively based on money. I think role, system proficiency and money were all very important.

Hes done horrible. Season 1 his expectations were low.. had an okay season .. not great... he make sweet 16 everyone happy... but letd be real.. no one here thought we were beating tennessee. I take kentucky to win in at least half my brackets i do and I do plenty. Probably 30 to 40 a year. The past 2 seasons I took em in 1 bracket.. last season I didnt even want to as I knew it was a ripped bracket. Hes been awful. Sugarcoat it all you want.. the longer it goes on the worse it will get. Hopefully he gets Crawford to comr on board... he had sick handles. 18 19 year old kids will like that.. not some Morman who believes the world is rainbows n butterflies. Was painful watching that ipwa state game last year. We can cry about lowe and Quintanace hurt... they played with out their best player and mopped us. We shoulda had way more losses last year to boot.

Colin, Jaxson definitely came for Pope and Colin did a sscond year. Milan also stated Pope made a good impression on him. It's an. NIL world now some more often than not the money will probably be the determining factor. Otega stayed three years.
