Pope isn’t the guy. Not sure how anyone can think he is at this point. Is he decent? Yes. But, is he UK good? No

A lot of you don’t like accepting the truth.
A lot of you can't refrain from posting the same stuff over and over and over again, in every thread.
you mean like the fans that continue to post the same tired pope excuses over and over again.....
You don't know what "the vast majority" thinks. We haven’t even played a game. Nobody knows anything yet.
I predict a whole bunch of haters will be pretending to be happy to eat crow soon. But I don't claim to know.
did we have to see a game to see of the john wall or KAT teams would be very very good? i mean.....this is the type of stuff you say/believe when really all you can do is hope. if we had studs, if we had killers....we wouldnt need to wait and see. it would be a known commodity. but sadly we are just another team ranked in the 20s that need to keep our fingers crossed the breaks go our way

I think something that is "telling" is the fact that there are almost no basketball posts. Like everyone, I am happy as can be about our football program but we are a very short time away from basketball and, very few posts. Normally, we would see many, many basketball topics to discuss.
Stein may take us to being a football school or it may be that Rupp Rafters is slowly dying.
Dude to the part of the fan base saying wait and see...go fuckk yourself. Yea I get it hes here and isnt getting fired befire the season but theres no way you look at the program and say wait and see.
Sure you support when the season gets here but we all know its going to be a disaster. It don't matter if its a nobody on Twitter or a expert because our fan base knows basketball and know ehat a good roster looks like.
Wait and see what? Another ten loss season and get beat first round like the evil Cal or blown out in the second round? After playing on Wednesday in the SEC tournament?

I understand your point, but think a majority of people on the board, including myself, just do not know enough about our personnel yet to post a lot.
I feel certain basketball posts will pick up after we see what the players and team look like in our three (3) exhibition games. For myself, I feel we will be good offensively, but am uncertain about how well we will rebound and play defense. We'll know a lot more by November 1st.
We should never have to share the Kentucky football mentality of “proving everyone wrong” in freaking basketball. The fact that has been the case for 3 straight seasons since Pope has been here is inexcusable. I refuse for Kentucky basketball to just become “one of the teams” of the SEC. I’d sooner as shut down the whole dang program and never play basketball again than to accept being average.
Mark pope has got Kentucky looking like Indiana! Alway’s plus 10 losses and middle of the conference. Mark 10000%has to go like last year
I bought 5 billboards around Lexington. Waiting til first of the year! Mark pope is the worse thing that ever happened to Kentucky basketball! A disgrace of a coach and I despise him as a coach! No respect
There is nothing better than teams like this flaming out. I'm currently finding much joy in Milwaukee beating LAD.
I would love him to feel some heat.
LAD have won 2 championships in a row, 3 championships in 6 years. will likely have a roster to win it all next year.
when the joy of watching your rival lose outweighs the joy of watching your own team win (because it doesnt win)......thats when you know you have lost the plot.
I suppose, but sports are often more than just your own team if you appreciate the sport as appropriately.
Consider how lucky you are to even have a team that has won as much as it has historically. You could be an Ole Miss fan. It's all relative, and sometimes being a product of the spoil doesn't set very healthy perspective.
Reality is that in the last 32 years, UK has won more titles than all but 3 programs. It's been to more F4's than all but 3 programs.
so some folks are in full blown settle mode. new slogan....."we are kentucky....which is better than being ole miss".
No, but you come across the occasional dip. Enjoy the journey back. It'll happen, just a matter of when. Whining doesn't get you there any faster.
UNC went through it. KU is going through some of it. UConn went through it, look where they are now. AZ went through it.
The only top program that really hasn't is Duke.

That’s a lot of bench talent regardless. Anyone coach with any chops at all could assemble a team resembling that here with our history and resources. Give an Oats type coach our name and money. He would have a final 4 roster for sure.
How many times did that happen? How many times did it work out? Things have changed, nobody could afford to put together some of those teams now. Except maybe the Dodgers. Unless something changes deep pockets trump blue blood. I hate it too. But thems the facts.

That is just a guess that you choose to treat as fact in order to support your agenda against our coach.

I didn't say there were. I said nobody is buying a team like the ones you listed.
It actually is hard to do the math with no actual numbers for our team or anyone else's. I'll concede that is not an unreasonable guess for those two but it is just two guys. Are you convinced there are not 5 programs or even more with two guys in that range. I'm not making proclamations about what is largely unknown but if we are low to mid 20 millions I personally doubt that would be top 5.
What exactly are you doing by discredit ling the program’s prestige just to pump up Pope.
Nah man, it’s not Pope’s fault. We’re just a poverty program that can’t keep up with the real elite programs. It’s all on Kentucky that we suck, not the glorious Lord Pope.
Saying these numbers are not made known publicly and that being top 5 in salary is a guess is a far cry from calling us a poverty program. I have never proclaimed Pope as being great but I do not support claiming to know things as fact that are actually unknown to support a biased agenda.
I don't know if he ultimately will ever succeed at a high level and I have never claimed to but I will absolutely root for him to do so. If we do not show significant progress soon a change will likely be made and I will back our next coach to get us back on top.
