A former baseball player said a security guard asked Coach Polk to put out his cigar. To which he replied, "This is my stadium."

That response is not surprising and displays the ginormous ego that Polk has. That's essentially why he went on the tirade when he was stepping down after the Polk II tour and wasn't allowed to name his successor for the SECOND time. He was appalled that someone could do him that way because "This is MY baseball program!".

Even after all his antics when he left, I’ve still got mad respect for the man. He built our program and has dedicated his life to college baseball. I’m glad he came back and wish he would more often.

He certainly did great things for our program, especially in his early years, and I give him full credit for that. However, we did have 6 SEC championships in baseball when he arrived and he only added 4 more in all the years he was HC. So I don't think I would go so far as to say he "built" our program. Actually, if we are being honest the thing that really makes MSU baseball so special is the tremendous fan support and facilities. We have no NC and are like tied for 15th in the country for most CWS appearances. So we have some tradition but our tradition is really more based on support for the program than the winning of titles.

"Built our program"?

Yes, he did a great job, but you might want to GOOGLE the name Paul Gregory.

There is no comparison between Polk and Corbin.

Finally, something we can agree on. Polk is 10x the coach Corbin is. Polk, @ MSU, was limited to 11.7 baseball scholarships. Corbin can give 40+ $250K grants. No comparison.
