the job of the PG is to make sure the 4 starters have more points than him

Wheeler leading the team in scoring but we score 52 points in one of the worst losses in the Calipari (or entire UK era).

Think about that.
Number one the point guards job isn't to make sure the other 4 starters score more points than him. The point guards responsibilities are to get the ball to other players for them to score, recognize defensive changes, get the other 4 players where their supposed to be, which is a hard chore with this team. Number 2 , when 6 of your teammates shoot a combined 3-35, that includes Toppin, Wallace, Tshiebwe,Therio, Oyenso and Ware you just might to shoot just a little. Wheeler was 7-16, Reeves 7-13 and Livingston 2-6, for a total of 18-38, that's a scorching 8%. I could go on and on but I know it's useless. I don't think in all the years I've ever seen such a gutless performance from players with KENTUCKY on their jersey.

The other starters received the ball from him. They did not score. That is not on him.
I would hate to be responsible for running "CCC's offense" and have some sympathy for Sahvir. Our offense gives new meaning to "The Fiddlin' Five." We fiddle around for 20 seconds then throw it out to him at the top of the key to make something happen.

At his press conference, COW stated the following in addition to "we need to play better on the road"
1. He is demanding that the ball move via passing!
2. We need to space higher.

Who is the head coach???

I think we have 15 players on the roster including walk-ons.
- In practice, if a player does not do either #1 or #2 above, he runs. Anytime he does not do these 2, he runs.
- In a game if a player does not do these 2, he sits!

In high school, we used to run a drill where dribbling was not allowed, the ball moved and the players moved. If you dribbled, you ran.

SIMPLE!!

valid arguments but my question would be - what role does Wheeler play in making it harder for his teammates to score? Basketball IQ must be higher at the PG than any other position on the court, while at the same time your opponents have to fear your ability to score so they can't sag off of you, which creates spacing.

They realize Wheeler is not a great shooter, but the bigger reason they sag is because they know he will blow right by them if they play tight defense on him, much like how DBs give cushion to WR speedsters. With his quickness, if he were a higher-percentage shooter, he would be a serious candidate for some high-level, post-season honors. He is an improved shooter, but still not a great shooter. To me, the decline in his FT-shooting is a head-scratcher and extremely worrisome.

Wheeler has been the most consistent player on the team this year. And he plays hard every possession. Wheeler has never been the problem.
Wheeler is a major problem he can’t guard - he is not a winning type player - Cal got duped again

Believe me. Sahvir Wheeler IS NOT our problem. Without Wheeler we lose the Alabama game by 40 points.
