Overall, I think we played a decent game for literally playin 5 freshman..but that position is scary. I just don't see it clicking there. Who did we miss? What is the solution?

As much as I hate to say it I think Briscoe would've been the guy.....
Didn’t really miss anyone. Chose Green over Young and didn’t recruit Duvall at all, which should tell you about how shady that situation is.

The solution is to let cal do his thing. Green nor SGA were awful. But both need more clock in real games. I don’t feel badly about either being on the floor— though I like our offense a bit more with Quade running things and our defense better with SGA. Coin flip.
Think back to any other team we’ve had in the past 10 years. Our PGs our never killer in the early season, but they get there.

I may be wrong on this but didn't Cal only start going hard after Green once it became apparent Young was probably going to OU or Kansas?
Tyler Ulis should be a senior. He screwed us.

Duvall was by far the #1 PG in the class. But with his academics, only a ******** school could accept him.
You can't tell me that his defense, strength and ball handling wouldn't have helped this team. Dude averaged almost 4 assist a game being the third option at guard last year. I know for a fact he'd be playing better than Quade
Shai picks up his dribble and isn't a good passer.
Quade can't guard anyone on the perimeter and isn't strong enough driving in the paint.

I don’t know- could read it like that but I just thought he wanted whoever would commit first and loved how Green had some dudes who wanted to play with him- as opposed to Young.
Definitely agree it's early and they are young. Past point guards struggled but we also saw flashes of greatness from all of them almost. Havnt seen that yet. But hopefully cal can get swaggy.

Poor Briscoe. He spends two years in frustration not getting to play point because we had Ulis and Fox, but then leaves right before the season when we dearly need a quality point. Poor guy just couldn't get his timing right, if he'd stayed just one more season he'd have finally gotten that chance to be the starting UK point guard.
Oh well, them's the breaks, I hope he's doing well in Estonia.
Nah, Fox was a stud in November. He didn’t struggle until February.
Green and Shai both were backup plans and you can see why. My issue is why Cal didn’t go after Newman when he left MSU. I don’t care that he didn’t pick us the first time. He’s better than any guard on our roster.
No doubt about , i completely agree. Cal will definitely have his work cut out for him . I don’t think Quade or Shai looks as confident as the past PGs.
Anyone, and I repeat anyone that doesn't think Briscoe would have made this team a lot better is smoking something...and probably picked and bet ucla to destroy us last year.
I think Green is the key, but I think Cal prefers Shai, he seems to prefer the taller pg.
Alexander does not need to be running the point so much. Period. Let Hami and Green handle.
Shai needs to run the point he's a much better athlete than green. Green can shoot, but shai is better overall. We didn't lose tonight we just ran out of time
I saw boneheaded mistake after boneheaded mistake. You may be right in February, but not right now.
I think Green is much more of a true point guard than Alexander, he is small but does have some savy. SGA picks up his dribble a little too much, and would probably be better at the 2 guard.
Ftfy..but hopefully im wrong. Really happy with rest of team. Skj needs to work on free throws.
Also, hasn't Vanderbilt been discussed as running the offense or did I just dream that?

Shai had 6 turnovers almost all of them unforced. Terrible point guard. And he is not that athletic, just tall. He is a better defender, that is why he plays.
Green cant play defense in a phone booth right now.

Kidding aside, neither green or Shai offer the complete package. Green is more explosive, but I Shai has better length and vision. I also think he has a more natural and comfortable presence right now. I was surprised by the turnovers. I'm thinking that will prove uncharacteristic.

I know he had some stupid Mistakes but I feel by the end of the year he will correct them. Don't get me wrong I love green but mainly in the half court rather than bringing it up the floor he's better in set plays than shai that's for sure
