This is devastating. Really thought we had a shot a top RB finally. Can't blame him tho. We're Nebraska and they're OU.

Exactly. We have very mediocre backs right now on scholarship and no hot shots all that interested in us. I put that on Davis.

That might be a LITTLE harsh. We have fair to decent running backs, none of whom have been huge standouts yet (I think Bryant will be good very soon, though).

I think the way I would phrase what you're saying is, for years we were able to land extremely solid running backs, like consistently land 4 star guys, and now we're not seeing anywhere near as many elite backs choose us.

Overall conclusion is the same though: I would put that on Davis.

We don't have any Ameer's but we also don't have our Pipeline from the 90's. To say our RB's are mediocre, is not really fair. I do agree that Davis needs to step it up now.

Why isn't it fair? Because you think our running backs have potential? I am basing my analysis on what they have accomplished so far. Ozigbo is just a slightly better version of Imani Cross. Wilbon has not been able to learn the playbook or pass block. Bryant has shown flashes. He has also been dropsy-dropsy with the football.
Are these guys D1 caliber backs? Of course. Are they above average? I have seen no evidence that any of them are anything more than average running backs. Do I hope one or more of them blossom into something special? Of course, again. But other than drinking the red koolaid what evidence could you possibly have that we should expect this?

I like your post but had to chuckle when you say we have "fair to decent" running backs. Sounds pretty close to calling them mediocre

Let's not forget the line they've run behind the last couple of years.

Its like reverse order now with RBs and WRs. We used to get 3 star WRs and 4 star RBs and now thats flipped, we get 4 star WR and 3 star RB (plus side now at least we are getting 4 star QBs now too). Bryant may save us a few years at RB but after him we maybe in trouble, might be on our way to Rileys version of Texas Tech.

I would say we are missing a speedster/home run threat.......

Ameer was a 5.9 177lbs 3* athl. Same class as Aaron green. Ameer was just a different breed he put in a lot of work it was just a freak.

Lost the #1 qb target but on some other good ones.

Also lost the #1 rb target but I would guess that Roberts is the back they feel most confident about.

Yep when Newby finished up last year we lost our speedster at RB, unfortunately he was the the lone fast RB we had. Actually we may have a speedster or two at RB still but there not good enough to play, speed might be there only good trait.

I think Salahuddin > Pledger, but I like Sal on defense even more than offense.

The best on their list is Zamir White, but not sure how realistic that is.

Ingram is exciting to watch, but not sure it translates to the next level.

Christian Turner looks good.

What do you think about Roberts? It seems like he'd be more suited to playing the FB position.

He certainly looks more like a fullback. Sometimes a guy like that can work out, ala Dan Alexander, but that guy was a real freak of nature. He's listed at 6'0" and 210lbs, but looks a lot heavier.

You're right, he looks like he weighs at least 220.

Christian Turner is very good.

No shot at Zamir White.

I just watched Ingrams vids; very smooth runner. Reminds me of Arian Foster the way he cuts and glides. Do we have his attention?
