This is total BS. The NCHSSA should seriously take a look at how these pairings are chosen. How the h*** does a team with a 4-6 or 5-5 record get a higher seed than a team with a 9-2 record?? This is laughable at best. I'd rather see all teams who make it ranked 1-16 and go from there.
It is called a split conference - the bane of high school football. I assume you are talking about Eastern Wayne who won their last two games to get the #1 seed in the split 4A/3A Eastern Carolina and Topsail from the 4A/3A Mideastern Conference. Just be glad that they at least modified the rules so that the #2 from a split conference has to have a 34% winning percentage or you might have seen at 3-7; 2-5 team in while a 5-5 team sits home.
It's no excuse. We've won 27 football games in a row. We are YOUR State Champion. Just please let us both win out. Nothing is more fun that coming to another teams house and kicking the crap out of them. That's what we'll do, then we'll all come back here and laugh at you.

Yeah, I realize wan it is. I just think that rule needs to be changed.
I can't argue with that. If you are going to compensate a team from a split conference, do it fairly. If the #1 from the split division is not #1 or #2 in the conference overall, then they shouldn't be seeded as a #1. Seeding them with the 3 seeds is a lot more fair than seeding them with the 1 seeds.
