Tough for OSU, would have been much better to have to play Ok first.

Usual SEC lean. How many weeks was Bama #1 and now they are barely top ten (Tua injury not an excuse because they were overrated before that) and right next to Wis. SEC has been overrated across the board all season (like most years)

I must say the playoff committee does some strange sh*t. And each year they change their criteria and somehow an SEC team always finishes #1. I guess the only good thing this year is they couldn't quite find a way to justify putting two SEC teams in.

I do agree with this. I’m just glad we have four teams from four different conferences this year. Almost like — you know — a real playoff.

CFP criteria is "whatever it needs to be to ensure the SEC gets an advantage".

This year LSU got rewarded for playing an FCS team instead of a 5th ranked opponent, and beating up on a Georgia team that was hamstrung by injury.
That's one point I didn't get. The committee said they would factor in injuries. Well Georgia was getting by winning by the skin of their teeth winning 4 games by 7 or less(3 in the last 5). Injuries mounted yet Georgia continued to rise.

Now all of a sudden injuries don't matter unless they're to your QB. Now the question begs, did Georgia deserve that #4 ranking going in or was it artificially inflated by the committee. I don't care if you make up a criteria, just don't pick and chose where to apply it, which they did in this case.

Georgia ended up ranked #5. So...get slapped around in your CCG, drop one spot. Ohio State had trouble in their CCG, but took control late, and won the game by 13...they also dropped one spot.

Clemson, LSU, OK and OSU. LSU is a bit of a newbie but they are always stalking ( like GA ) . Replace Bama with LSU and it’s the same old. College football has a serious competitive balance problem

Why is it so important? And why is everyone in such an uproar? Win your 1st round and you face each other. Simple no??

total $EC bias...how LSU leapfrogs OSU is crazy. All the data showed OSU was better.

you beat the #8 team in your championship game and you drop to 2nd?

fkng insane.
Other teams just need to step up. Don’t blame top4 for winning.

Georgia is 5 because the previous 5, 7 and 8 just lost and 6 moved to 4. c'mon guys. use your heads for once. it's not hard.

LSU won much more convincingly than OSU, and deserved the bump to 1 especially because they both knew style points would matter and OSU struggled for much of the game.

committee got it exactly right. easy this time.

But in theory OSU should have built a lead by beating PSU & Michigan the last 2 weeks while LSU was playing Arkansas and Texas A&M.

Both knew #1 was at stake. LSU pummeled #4. OSU came from behind to survive. No issue.

I'm sure they exhausted all the possibilities first.

rather than asking questions, look at the data.

OSU should have been #1...not LSU.

not that hard guys.
There is tons of data to support both teams. You are only looking at one side. Besides what is the difference between 1 or 2 seeds??

Not sure if you watched the game yesterday but Fox showed all the major statistics and Ohio State was ahead in all of them. All.

And I know you used to play football but if you can't see the difference between playing Clemson versus playing Oklahoma I'm not sure what to tell you.

scarlet...and what Fox didn't explain is the impact of the actual game being played. The supposed best team in the country doesn't fall behind 21-7 with the #1 spot at stake. LSU crushed #4 and OSU came back to survive #8. It was neck and neck until Saturday, but not any more.

LSU crushed a Georgia team missing the bulk of its skill players, and who shouldn't have been #4 in the first place.

And earlier in the year they crushed an FCS patsy while OSU beat a fifth ranked team.

Not as bad as letting Alabama into the final four two years ago, but still much more about style than substance.

wisc beats GA too and probably beats LSU. Wisc was underrated as was the Big10. Put it another way, if GA was #4, they don't get spanked that badly by LSU unless they were truly not #4 and LSU doesn't deserve the benefit in the ranking or LSU is by far the best team this year with that showing and we all know they are not

The difference is that the 1 seed gets a much easier semifinal game.
I don't think LSU or Ohio State's goal is just to get the Final. The goal is to win it all. You are going have to play someone sometime. Is the first game easier for LSU? Sure. But it guarantees nothing. If Ohio State can't beat Clemson what makes you think they can win it all?
