If you’re playing GM, how are you allocating $ for next year? If i assume we have 8.25mm for the roster, id assume

starting center: 1.5
Starting PF: 1.3
Starting SF: 1.3
Francis (SG): 1.2
Starting PG: 1.3
Bench:
Buchanan: 300k
Mark: 250k
Davis: 250k
Ogbole 250k
Powers 250k
Zrno 250k
Dortch 100k

let grant go.

Would be willing to bet Buchanan is already getting >300k. High major starters or high-level role guys go for 500k min

I agree these numbers are probably low. Good centers are closer to $2M. Someone will definitely offer Buchanan more than $300K so RU will have to pay more if they want to keep him. I think Powers and Mark will have higher offers too With. Year under their belt and potential.

I literally just posted on another post …that I have no idea what will happen .

I have a lot of ideas on what I would do …but it’s really a guess because we really don’t know our budget snd we really don’t know what the market will be this year

However …I really think the nunbers you are posting are very low relative to these players market values

could be right , could be wrong we Will see ….

Francis is the PG with Powers at SG. Keep Mark the backup and starting PG in two years. Zrno, Wooten and Jones in the 2 and 3 rotation. Buchanan, a real 5 and Dortch . There’s the 9. Saves a million by not having to bring in a 2.

Some of these guys may be getting more right now but it doesn’t mean we should pay that amount. Grant is getting $500k, it doesn’t mean it was fair value - he’s been way overpaid.

I know centers can certainly go for more but I’m just saying this is how I’d think about allocating based on a $8.25mm budget.

for the bench guys, I’d be comfortable letting them walk if they want significantly more.

good centers may go for $2mm, but I’m saying this is how I’d allocate based on the budget that is rumored. I’d love to pay $5mm per roster spot, but that’s not feasible.

Step 1 = Fire Pike
Step 2 = Fire the rest of the coaching staff
Step 3 = Get rid of most players
Step 4 = Rebuild the program from scratch

And do the same with that embarrassing women's program.

Unfortunately I think many of your numbers are low. $250k is a 12th-15th man on most rosters. Rotational bench players 7th-9th man get $500-$600k at minimum. Francis at $1.2 seems right. $1.2-$1.5 should bring in better talent but not sure where that puts them compared to the rest of the big ten.

I would focus on getting the right 7-8 players and roll the dice hoping no one gets hurt.

I bring back Francis, Buchanan and Mark for $2mil total.
Powers or JMike if there for $250K.
The rest have to GO. I wouldn't bring back Zrno from $250K, if he was sliding me back $300K under the table.
I'd have look to get 5 guys for $8mil and 4 guys who get $0 -guys playing for the opportunity. 4 Joel Salvi types. Yeah, you want to build the right degree of conflict and pressure the money brings. Pike maybe too nice for the business this has become.

Stated by who and when ? Mark’s PT has increased considerably of late.

Also, the premise of this thread is to be GM.

Mark could be the PG backup for a year then start when TF leaves.

The problem for Rutgers is we don't have the money to spend $600k for the 10th guy on the roster like other teams can.
We just don't have the money.

To be competitive, we need to be spending 90% of budget on the top of the rosters/starters and key contributors off the bench.

That means spots 9th roster spot and lower get minimal money.

Unfortunately, that means most the roster leaves.

Buchannon is likely over qualified for $200k as the 9th guy.
But also under qualified to be the starting 3/4 at $1.3m.
Do we want him to be 1st wing off bench for $750m?

All those numbers are way too low.
