So Kenny Bell is an all time Husker great...NOT. Here is a list of Husker receivers who were better:

Johnny Rodgers (Kenny couldn't hold his jock strap)
Guy Ingles
Frosty Anderson
Tim Smith
Irving Fryar
Jon Bostic
Bobby Newcome
Maurice Purify
Nate Swift
Stanley Morgan
J.D. Spielman

That’s crazy. It was a wide open, perfectly thrown pass to the number 1 player taken in the draft. I loved Fryar back when he played at Neb but some of the weird/wacky things that have transpired with his life over the past 40 years have me stop and think a bit now every time I see that play. We scored on that drive anyway but took a good deal more clock to do so.
Why wouldn’t he have dropped the first pass of the final dive that went for 30 yards? We don’t get down there wo that catch.

Curious as the why you say KB? Bad experience with him as a fan? He invited me to a tailgate last year and I thought he was a very nice guy. Great tailgate and free tickets to OSU game and then a week or two later sent my family an Omaha Steaks package - with filets, lobster, twice baked potatoes…etc. We had a great time talking to him and cool experience for my oldest daughter who is a do or die Neb fan…

After being a fan with some that weren’t tremendously fan friendly - like Tommie Frazier…just curious as to why Kenny?
Yep, loved KB.

One of the most passionate, most-devoted Huskers and the GOAT Husker receiver. Also, a great dude.

People who don’t like KB, it’s 100% about what’s wrong with them.

I generally agree. He followed some bad leadership from his coach at the time and made some comments people didn't like because of it.

I wouldn’t put Bostic over Kenny. Newcombe was a great athlete but not sure (as a receiver) he was better than Jenny. Some of those guys were before my time so can’t compare e.g Ingles. Bell is (at worst) top 20 of all time…if that’s not an all time great not sure what is being debated.

In what world does the #2 all-time in yards and receptions and 4th in TDs not make an all-time great list?

Nebraska doesn’t have any rivalries - they jumped ship because they were butt hurt that Texas owned them in the Big12 and the fact that the team they considered their rival (OU) essentially kicked them to the curb in favor of Texas

And now they are in the big ten where they aren’t worthy of being considered a rival by anyone in the conference .. they exist to simply collect conference paychecks without contributing anything of value

even Creighton doesn’t consider them a rival in basketball

nebraska is the Iowa state of the big ten - only much much less successful (apologies to Iowa state)
My understanding is that Nebraska left the big12 because lack of stability of that conference (later proved true) and significant increase in conference payouts. Or it could be an emotional butthurt(lol) but I believe stability and money were logical drivers

I think he should make the all time great list as he was pretty damn good at NU, but I also think people might view him similar to Tommy Armstrong. Put up a **** ton of stats as the record books were more loaded on the rushing end and it would be easy to move up, but should not be considered an all time great. It is an interesting debate.

Well…I can tell you he passionately follows Neb now. You like Tommie Frazier? Well…at least I can tell you some players can and do mature over time…but not all.
Yeah…but Frazier gave Nebraska two Natty’s. That’s enough to be forgiven for being a dick. Maybe Kenny Bell has matured and a standup guy now, but he wasn’t part of anything memorable in Lincoln other than running his mouth. I don’t recall what it was, but he said something that irked husker fans a lot.

Maurice Washington, a player you loved at first then absolutely hated when he gave up. You may have all the stars in the world but if you have a lot of baggage that goes along with those stars it rarely turns out well.

If you don't recall what it was, then it was nothing. Additionally, if you are judging NU players by doing anything "memorable," you'll have a lot of players to judge negatively in the recent era.

Kenny was a baller that we were lucky to have and a key part of a winning program, not part of the dumpster fire we have now. I'd take 10 Kenny Bells.

Forgiven by who. I personally don’t like dicks. He was a great fb player though. I don’t remember what Kenny did to cause these memories. Was he defending Bo or something?

No, he said something that pissed people off. I just can’t recall. He mentioned it on Twitter. I don’t have any vendetta against him personally. He played hard and had plenty of good catches. He was just vocal. But let’s be honest. He was not part of Nebraska’s greatest teams. Love him all you want. Fine. I don’t care. Decent receiver. But he wasn’t part of anything we care to remember.

99% of NU players were not part of "Nebraska's greatest teams." Really odd way to discount former players.

I don't think I ever hated a NU player,

I might have disliked them for a day, like when niles dropped the ball against texas, or richie would get a personal foul every other play,

I don't feel this way, but there's a few in my circle of friend who would all complain about KB. They would always make jokes during the game because during multiple games he would come out with an injury (always when we were losing), and then late in the game when we fought our way back into it, all of a sudden KB was good to go and be back out on the field.

Again, I don't feel that way. I've met Kenny several times and he was always a good time to be around. That's just my personal story of being around KB hate.

we allways seem to have one real receiver like that one that name started with a T last year, before him one that went to tcu, and the one before him, and wistercamp, every year.. but it's not like breaking passing records was real hard, seeing we mostly ran all the time. I really like the one before the tcu guy....wonder if he got to the NFL?

I hated DeAngelo Evans for having so much talent but quitting, and just seeming like a prima donna. There was likely more to the situation than that, but that's what it looked like from the outside, and it was just such a shame.
I watched DeAngelo Evans in high school his senior year when Wichita Collegiate (his school) played Scott City on a Saturday afternoon in Wichita. Scott City beat the living hell out of him. He had some kind of consecutive 100 yard games rushing streak going in to the game. He was given credit for a little over 100 yards rushing in that game but myself and several other people in the stands kept track of his rushing yards and he didnt't even have 80. He QUIT in the 4th quarter and didnt even take the field - he sat on the sideline with a towel over his head and pouted. The kid did not like getting hit and I know I had some concerns when he signed with Nebraska. So when the stories came out about him in the locker room - they did not surprise me.

I think Newcombe was a better WR and return man than Bell. Not saying Bell was bad at all, but Newcombe was on a different level, and I believe that if he had played in the offense that Bell played in, he would have racked up a lot of yards.
