Playcall today that showed incompetence

Oddly, one of the things I’m finding myself most mad about is running the trick pass to Jonah Jackson down 21 with 5 minutes left. You can’t win at that point; all you’ve done now is put the play on tape for opponents. Save it for a close game when it can add value - now you likely can't use it again. Shows total incompetence on Ash's (and McNulty's?) part.

I'm torn.

I really liked the play.
But your right, we may have burned it now.

We could have been trying to win the game? But Scared Coach Ash kicked the fg, so clearly we weren't.

Remember, offense clearly confuses Ash so the concept of saving a play might be too far fetched for him.

It’s not like there are just a few trick plays to choose from. Of all our troubles, wasting a trick play isn’t one of them.

I didn't like the play, and I'll tell you why. It reminded me of what bugged me about McNulty the last time around. Rutgers would be pounding the opponent on a drive, and he would pull out a trick play that would usually just stall the drive right there.

I agree it was pointless at that moment.
