You are right, most of us aren't happy about the situation
Neither am I. I am smart enough to know we very likely need PJ to make it past the sw16 unless we get some upsets. I am also smart enough to realize you don't put someone in a hard cast for just a couple of days. Which seems to be why no one can provide examples of this happening before with other players.

But because I am not sunshine pumping promoting the ******** narrative that everything is fine because we want it to be, I am somehow labeled a troll or non-fan. It would really be comical if not so sad.

He may miss this weekend, we will be good without him. people need to quit freaking out. Others yelling he is done for the season needs to stop. How the hell do they know that? have they seen the x rays?

I hope this finally makes people realize not to ever believe a word Cal says on injuries. He’s told more lies, stalled or just avoided more questions on injuries than any coach I’ve ever seen.

Lie or just misleading. You can’t go yesterday with “sprained foot, diagnosis, going for specialist to confirm, expect him to play, he wants to play” to “sprained foot, confirmed original diagnosis, hard cast, won’t play.”

Huh?

Feel free to prove me otherwise. The only time he’s ever come out and been upfront is on season enders like with Poythress.

Mystery with Harrow, Lyles and PJ to name a few. Then there’s ones like Dodson were weren’t hurt but didn’t play and we had no idea why.

I agree we will be fine this weekend, but I can’t blame people for getting upset. We are at the end of the season where it matters most. Anytime there is a potential your best overall player might be out at all is incredibly stressful and frustrating. I think most people are just basing it off being told he was expected to play to being in a hard cast all within about 15 hours. That naturally will raise suspicion and angst.

You don't get put in a hard cast for a couple of days. Don't see him playing this weekend either (if ever again).

If not, I don't think UK can beat Wofford or Seton Hall without him.
Your panic should be a comfort to all, because you never get anything right.

Hey Zay! You must be bursting with excitement the last couple of days. Top player injured. Rumors of Cal leaving. Opens season on bashing Cal for absolutely no reason. Life is good for you. Congratulations!!

Hell what’s it matter anyway. Pj sounds done and without him we will be lucky to make the elite 8. Big whoop. Wasted season and yet another missed chance at #9.

What the hell do these national writers get paid to do? You would think someone would really be looking into this and trying to get the answers but nada. Does Cal not know that I have some money riding on bracket challenges? I’m gonna need to know if PJ is out for the season by the time the brackets lock lol

I have no source but this is what I think happened by using logic/reasoning/common sense. I personally think that PJ had some sort of season ending injury. He didn't like what the Dr told him early this week and told coach Cal that he was fine and that there were no tears or fractures. He then went and saw a second specialist yesterday after coach Cal interviewed, the interview where coach Cal said PJ was fine and would play today, and the the second specialist confirmed the first Dr's diagnosis of a season ending injury. He then told coach Cal after the interview what the injury was but told him not to announce what the injury is because he wants to talk to a lawyer to see how to go about this injury without hurting his draft stock too much. He's probably talking to a lawyer now asking them what all does the NBA need to know about his injury. Once he gets his answers PJ and or UK staff will make an official announcement about his season ending injury or less likely not even make an announcement.

It’d actually be nice to have Rick on this one. He always made things sound worse than they were. Cal is almost always the opposite. The stuff with Harrow, Lyles, Vandy and Travis all lasted longer than they originally said it would.

It may be Cal trying to salvage something in a last ditch effort in these cases. (Could be...) Cal is a miracle-worker....

Seems to make sense to me. They got the same diagnosis on what the injury actually was/is but decided that he wouldn’t play. Now, it doesn’t explain what went into that decision, but it doesn’t seem like a contradictory statement in any way.

You think the coach gives a flying f*ck whether some arm chair qb fan knows the true extent of his player’s injuries?

If I were a player or parent of the player I would appreciate Cal keeping the laundry in house, best he can.

It sucks to lose your top player...you think Cal isn’t the most disappointed person involved (outside of PJ)? I’m sure he hurts for PJ, He knows how bad he wants to play.

Being a coach is a lot like being a parent. You truly care more about the player/kid than you care about the perception of pessimistic ‘fans’ or anyone else outside your circle

You do realize medical situations and solutions change and evolve don’t you? How the hell do you know Cal has been deceptive?
I am saying that he said he just has a sprain but he's good to go then he has a cast on and he's not playing. ALL of the doctors and specialists said ok, and Cal said he's ok but he's not playing? I know things change, but at the speed of light? Maybe deceptive is a little harsh and I should have said misleading. And you know most coaches have done it to psych out the other team. Do you think you could make a comment without using a curse word? You could have said "how do you know..." and it would have been just as effective.

Coach Cal said he was fine in a interview yesterday before PJ even saw the second specialist. How would Cal be able to predict what the second specialist said. Or what if PJ lied to coach Cal about what the first Dr said and the first Dr couldn't tell Cal what the injury was because of HIPPA? Coach Cal didn't necessarily lie.

Well this sucks. I might have held off on having us winning it all if I knew about this sooner. Who knows for sure if he will play Saturday or not now and that is definitely a losable game?

So tired of these key injuries at tournament time. This is why I hate not using all of our scholarships. Now we will be shorthanded with only 3 guys between 2 positions and most being foul prone until (if) PJ comes back.

If he’s in a hard cast he’s done for the year. Sorry to the be the bearer of bad news but there will be a degree of atrophy and no way does pj play without some form of rehab/pt. There simply isn’t time for that. He’s done imo
