We have a player that isn't mentioned anywhere on the boards next year saying he committed to UK because of the OAD ability of Cal. His own words "im going to Kentucky to be one of those".

Problem is he wont be drafted either more than likely.

Briscoe just did it btw.

If Pj did it, wouldn't surprise me a bit. There are changes happening in college basketball for the worse all around.
You're a real piece of work,lol

PJ may very well go pro even if he thinks he will go 2nd round or even undrafted. Everyone seems to have a misconception that unless you are being picked in the lottery or at least first round you should return to college. That is the wrong theory. If you are good enough to play professional basketball at any level the only reason to return for a 2nd year of college is if you think that year will significantly improve your draft position of chance of being drafted. Good examples of this would be a PG playing behind another star PG that leaves so he takes over the star role. Another example would be a “project” that could significantly improve, think Nazr Mohammed as a freshman.

For someone like PJ, he is good enough to play professional basketball at some level, even though it may be overseas. He has good skill and strength, so coming back another year is unlikely to significantly improve his NBA draft stock. He is what he is, a 6’7” power forward. No let’s say he has 10 years of playing high level basketball left in his life. If he comes back for a year, he loses 10% of his basketball earning potential.

Basically, you go earn money playing basketball anywhere you can while you can.

I would LOVE to have PJ back next year. I think he could be a really, really good college player. That being said, I totally understand if he goes.
Then why not skip college altogether? Just go straight to Europe or the g-league. Get that money.

Really don't see what there is to meet about. What position does he play in the NBA?
Exactly. He's NOT playing PF in the NBA at his size and he hasn't shown the least bit of skills required to play SF. If he leaves, you'll never hear about him again. He needs to stay for at least another year and develop his ball handling and shooting skills.

i want him back but am in the minority thinking there’s nothing wrong with him going. he was actually consistent the last month of the season. he scored double figures most every game. he’s not a jump shooter so unless he’s coming back to get stronger i don’t see how he improves his draft position as a 6-7 post player. i’m hoping he comes back and dedicates a full year to improving his shot, but i think he’s gone.
If he's gone, it's somewhere other than the NBA. They're not drafting a 6'7" PF.

And that is why you will never see another National Championship from Calipari !! Cal is using the UK to push out NBA players

Does it take you longer to type out ignorant/ misguided takes like this? Or can you type just as quickly despite the imbecilic takes?

Man, if we can start 10 guys next year, we might go 40-0!
Nah, if we had 10 players out there Jamie Lucky would just pick out our worst free throw shooter and keep him on the line all night. Seriously though it would sure be nice to avoid insulting or being overly critical in these type threads. This is not anything to really be concerned over much less lashing out over at this point.

I posted several days ago that I have no idea what may be in Quade's mind
but transferring certainly seems like a possibility to me. Someone said he'd be taking over next year. Don't know what that's based on. He couldn't keep that job this year. Nothing against him but do you really think that's the best Cal is going to have at the point the next 3 years?

Cal is going to recruit over him. He may already have. While Cal will give his potential first round draft chances plenty of run, Quade doesn't fit that mold. He's not an NBA talent.

Quade has to see this. He may want to take on the challenge, he may be content to be a career backup, or he might decide to transfer.

PJ??? Maybe he leaves but the likelihood of him making an NBA roster next year seems slim to me, altho I admit I don't follow the league at all.

He’s not transferring. He nor his family or anyone really has alluded that Quade will transfer. At all.

So why post random hypotheticals ?

Simple answer: First, they can't go bypass college and go straight to the G-league (same rules as NBA). A few have gone straight to overseas, but most the ultimate goal is the NBA and they believe one year in college will get them more exposure to be drafted than one year of playing overseas.

Therefore, the model for many is try to one year in college and try to get to the NBA. If you can't, then head to the G-league or overseas to make money while still trying to get to the NBA.

This is all a bit silly. We have people freaking the F out and melting down over hypotheticals ? Because T.J. Walker tweeted some vague and cryptic tweet?

Did anyone read the actual interview (that was mentioned in the tweet ) with PJ’s father ?

PJ Sr—> “It's just a matter of if he's ready right now. Mentally, physically and what can he do at the next level and at what position. It will have to be the right spot, just like why we picked UK.”

That didn’t really answer his question to be fair?

The age minimum for the g-league is 18, not 19. So players can go straight to the g-league, they just have to wait a year before they can get called up to the NBA.
