Surprised we're not seeing anything here previewing this Pitt team. I know they've had an up and down season but their offense is putting up numbers that approach GT's and they've got a surefire All-American in Carrier.

They're 11th in runs per game in conference games, averaging 2.5 fewer runs than Georgia Tech. Don't really find what their offense did against bad arms that relevant to projecting the weekend.
In addition, they are 15th in ERA in conference games with a bloated 7.87, and opponents are hitting .314.
With an OOC SOS of 242, I'm not surprised their hitting looks better when those games are included.
If it weren't for a sweep of virginia a two weeks ago (no idea what really happened there) they'd be officially in a full tail spin. Lost 2 of 3 to Wake, got swept by CAL!, lost 2 of 3 to Va Tech, and got swept by Fla St. last weekend.
Looks like they only have 2 starters - their second day "starter" hasn't gone more than 2 innings in over a month. 4 different guys run out there to start over those 5 series. Looks like a planned staff day for them...

Pitt will be scratching for wins to boost their RPI. BaseballAmerica has them as one of the last four out of the tournament at this time. We're at a point in the season where winning 5/7 will lock up a top 8 seed even if other teams win. Anything over that is just gravy.
Can always count on some fans to make a bunch of crappy ACC teams out to be better than what they are. They suck. Win the series...no excuses.
The biggest thing that happened there was UVA was missing their two best players for the first two games.
Well, if they can throw three middling lefties at us, those numbers might improve!
I get respecting opponents and having to play well to win… but how is Pitt on the bubble? 10-14 and spiralling in the ACC. RPI of 50. Non conference SoS of 242. Losing records in Q1 and Q3 games, and have a Q4 loss.
If they had won 2/3 against us, that would have put them right back in it. If they win today and sweep nd, they are probably enter the last 4 or next 4 out going into the ACC tournament.
