Pitino, along with his staff, was so much better than Cal and his staff that it’s not even debatable. END OF CONVERSATION!!!

How did that UMASS v Kentucky game in the season opener of 96'? I know it's even with the final four, but the talent at UMASS v Kentucky was slightly out of wack.

Pitino is a master motivator and he always gets the best out of his players...he always knew when to press and when to trap halfcourt...He loved to play fast and basically was one of the first coaches to embrace the 3 pt shot.

The Pitino years were my most rewarding following the Cats...they meant more because the players were here 4 yrs and they had heart
Too bad the coach had no morals a real POS

Calipari left UMass and Memphis on probation. He cheats. Like Lefty, he can get them but is not the best at coaching them. Pitino is known as a great floor coach and motivator, but lacks in moral judgement. I guess Joe B. Hall, Eddie Sutton and Tubby Smith should be in the conversation. How many different programs has Tubby taken to the NCAAs?

Anyone that truly believes that Cal is a better in game coach and X and O guy than Pitino honestly need their head examined. How many times have we watched Cal get out coached the last 4 minutes of games? Hell, 10 times this year alone at least.
Exactly right. Pitino is far and away a much better X's and O's, and in game coach, than Cal ever thought about being.

Pitino is a scumbag, that's not debatable, but we're talking about coaching, not what kind of person either one is.

I get that and fully understand. But, when RP was our coach he did get that respect, and then some. (Not so much now since it's become apparent he's a horrible person.)

That said, RP was/is a much better in game coach, IMO.
