Man I miss those days...
Pitino is the GOAT college coach...
Wish we had him back....we would be pressing, trapping, hustling...bombing 3’s

And yet we are grinding, stalling, and have a bunch of nonshooters
I loved RP here. But did you watch him at UL? Have you seen his team at Iona play? They do none of that you mentioned except maybe hustle. That said, I wish he’d never left and of course stayed clean. Would have been great.

People can say what they want but Pitino at UK was the BEST coach in the country. Cal has never been considered the best coach in the country in any timeframe.

Well that’s just dumb. From 2011-2015 we went to 4 straight final fours, won a championship, and almost went undefeated. In 2 of those seasons he had 3 total losses. That might be one of the best stretches in history.

Regardless of how one feels about the time after his departure from UK, the man knows how to win with the players he has, wherever he’s been.
I’ll never forget the press conference after our 1995 heartbreaker to UNC, when he said he would make the necessary changes to ensure “this never happens again.” His ability to adapt has kept him winning, year after year.

I mean we def had the best team, but at the end of the day Pitino got to a final 4 and got a title in that same time span with rosters that weren’t even close lol, unfortunately so did K!

You don’t think the 1996 or 1997 rosters were even close? You think 1997 had a worse roster than 2014 or 2011??

I well remember that loss. It was hard to watch the rest of the tournament after that one. Kinda like 84 and 92 and 93.

If we're doing real comparisons, then Kentucky Rick Pitino far more fun than Kentucky Calipari IMO. Please note that I'm comparing the two coaches while AT KENTUCKY. I shouldn't have to make that disclaimer but some people start foaming at the mouth when Pitino's name is mentioned here.

Pitino's teams were fun to watch....ALL OF THEM. Can that be said about all of the Calipari teams?

Revisionist history. People always think the past was better. And, most of the time they are wrong.

There was nothing Pitino did at UK that was more fun or better than 2010, 2012, or 2015. 96 was awesome but Cal’s three best years blow away Rick’s three best years.
