I don’t know how anyone isn’t excited for this moment. The last few days have been a lot to digest, but we now have someone in the drivers seat that loves the program as much as we do. Cal coached the program for money, self promotion, and recognition. Pope is going to do this for all of us!

That's a big deal to me. Rick didn't have to do this. What does he owe UK? I didn't need any additional encouragement to be ready to support Mark Pope, but Pitino's endorsement does help.

Pitino had so many damn issues at Louisville. Nobody will ever be able to take that back. Hookers, paying players, and extortion.

That said, I hope this is an opportunity for BBN and Rick to make amends. Not love each other, of course, I'm not sure that could ever happen. But, fans reconcile a bit with the ol traitor and vice versa.

Pitino is a great basketball mind. Probably would've been as good as or better than K if he'd stuck around at Kentucky. UK owes him thanks for four final fours and two (if you count Tubby using his players) championship banners in Rupp. I think Pope could help reform that bridge a bit.

FWIW, add Jack "Goose" Givens to the list of former Cats who are ecstatic about the hire.

And I would assume you could add Jeff Shepard to that list since they played together in 96.

Good Lord, that was tremendously amazing!
Uplifting, reassuring, inspiring, just like the Coach Pitino of old.

Now we have the new Coach P.

I think the next step will be hiring Pelphrey as an assistant.
