As I have aged, I really have become a fan of their music and lyrics. Headed to a Black Jacket Symphony cover of Dark Side of the Moon in a few weeks. Hope its worth the time and money.

The Dark Side of the Moon is a masterpiece and monument for prog rock.

That said, their discography is pretty bloated, especially past the 80's.

I actually think Rush is overall the better band in terms of influence.

This spawned from a text I got from a friend linking Dark Side to the Wizard of Oz. Seems to be a reach but i'm not stoned so maybe there's something there that I'm not picking up.

One of my all-time faves....going to catch Brit Floyd at Red Rocks in June, can't believe I've never seen them yet.
June huh. My wife and I are driving to Utah in late June. Maybe we catch the show on the way out or back.

Maybe. But I think Rush can sound like several other bands if you're not a polished fan of Rush.

But no one and I mean no one sounds like Floyd other than Floyd.

And I think I like the Wall better.

Yes, there's a video on YouTube that links the album to the movie. Some of the connections seem to align but others you really have to stretch to see the link.

Again where is it written? I asked, you said it's common sense. Here's news to you. Your opinion isn't fact or law. It's just your opinion.

You and Kong wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?

Does common curiosity mean anything to you ? or you just want to be stubborn at your age.

I bet you won't be disappointed....I'd listen to almost anything at Red Rocks.

Looks like they are in KC early June too...

Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here are my favorite Pink Floyd records. They would be in my Top 10 of all time. I like most of The Wall (Comfortably Numb is favorite song by them period) but yeah the album as a whole is kinda bloated. I do like some of the Syd Barrett era and post Waters but DSOTM and WYWH are the best imo

LOL what does curiosity have to do with OT or no OT? your reaching again. And yes I can be stubborn at my age, particularly with stupid takes.

To be honest I haven’t but I’ll get around to it lol

I’d really like to check it out and Gilmour’s On an Island. There are albums by them I don’t think I’ve listened to which is crazy since as a guitarist myself I think David Gilmour is such a tasteful player! He has fantastic tone and phrasing.

I stumbled across this beauty a few years ago. Slow but the slide guitar (or whatever you call it) is worth the wait in the end. Song about aging.

Dude!? In no universe is Rush more influential than Pink f’n Floyd. The Floyd pioneered the concept album, sold 50 million copies of The Dark Side of the Moon (alone), and turned syncing it with The Wizard of Oz into a cultural phenomenon. Their Prism logo? It’s on T-shirts at every crappy mall kiosk in the world.

Rush is awesome—they’ve sold over 40 million albums (total) and are probably more technically proficient—but it’s not even close. Floyd defined rock as art, transcended music, and became a global icon.

Shine on, you crazy diamond.

Simmer down. Music is subjective and people have different tastes. It’s okay.
