A few things stuck out to me.

-Missed layups and bunnies
-He wants RHJ to be more of a local leader
-he doesnt think it's the officials fault with the free throw attempts gap
-The players spend too much time on their phones

The missed layups started early when JY missed an open breakaway layup and they never stopped we must have missed at least 10-15 layups last night; and there were a few bad calls that cost us but the loss is on the team they just played terrible;
Pikell's press conferences in general are the same BS every time we have to do a better job coaching well how about you do that and how about you install an actual offense

No energy until the run at the end. Not sure what it is. RHJ should have had 30 last night and showed signs he is getting back to that level. The guy covering him was very grabby but he showed he’s strong enough to score down low.

“ The players spend too much time on their phones “ That is a problem in society and not just at Rutgers ... The coach needs to address that if he knows it’s a distraction and evidently it is. Overall this past year and especially now also lends itself to overuse of cell phones.

He really said that?..lol. I thought it was a joke. This has become a high school team to match our high school offense. It’s embarrassing for everyone involved. That’s something you address behind closed doors and should’t even admit. It just shows how little control he has. These are scholarship athletes not high school kids.

No crowd energy to feed off and keep you in full 40 minute relentless attack mode.. look no further😀
18-1 wasn’t a fluke

Perhaps Pike should have taken one for the team with a few comments about the horrible reffing against Johnson in the first OSU game like the Penn State coach did. The problems started around that time. It’s nice to know the coach has your back. Johnson had to resort to his own means with a tweet that he deleted. It was embarrassing that nothing was said, embarrassing that Johnson felt no other recourse than to tweet about it and embarrassing that he had to take it down. That’s the coach’s job.

That was really a missed opportunity for Pike...instead he said the refs were great. I get he was probably trying to be sarcastic but the comment was like an air ball from the FT line.

the thing is that it would have been out of character for him so it would have made an even greater impact if he had done something . I just don’t understand how you don’t take that hack-job reffing personally. I would have been livid. I think it would have also bonded the team.

We didn’t have energy in the end. We made shots. If we had energy and got stops we would have escaped playing 30 bad minutes with a win.

Maybe because we aren’t getting fouled. Take a look at kcg clips. You don’t get foul calls on fadeaways and step back shots.

are we talking about the same game? You seriously don’t think Johnson was royally screwed in the OSU game? I very very rarely complain about the refs...less than almost everyone on here...but that ref had money on OSU. I think it would have taken a lot for a kid like Johnson to take matters into his own hands .

and the technical called in that game wasn't even on him it was on the bench; weas fans watch this and are screaming how can he stand there like a statue for once get one or even two technicals and either show your team you have their back and they will respond we lost the game anyway it wasn't going to make a difference and I think it would have fired up the team going forward.

That was a month ago and yes we got screwed.

I am getting sick and tired of watching Mathis wrecklessly drive in to the lane (not using a jump stop, NJH has noted) and then make a face looking for a foul when the shot doesn’t go in.

refs are human, they make mistakes. There is no anti Rutgers bias. That is just plain dumb. Why would refs want Rutgers to lose?

I’m sick of it too and it’s a huge problem....and it’s coaching...or lack thereof. There was without a doubt an anti-Johnson bias in that game with that ref. Yes. It was a while ago. But that’s when the problem started. Kids should not feel the need to tweet about refs and if they do it anyway, that’s a big problem. Obviously Pike didn’t handle it. Just wondering if it was coincidence or perhaps the team didn’t feel like didn’t have their backs.
