I know GW is playing but who else is? PC started but I think they shut down, MV and Bassett started practicing but they shut down and haven't played any games. Martinsville hasn't even practiced yet. Don't know about Tunstall and Halifax. Each school system makes their own rules. We may not agree but they are doing what they think is best.
I understand the frustration and I didn't know the Tunstall situation, but Martinsville and Henry Co schools are still all virtual and my understanding at least in Martinsville they will not be allowed to practice or play until the kids return to the classroom. Shame is the Dogs should have had a pretty good team this year
How is Halifax #1 and hasn’t played in a game. Danville looked horrible down the stretch the other night against Botty but I understand that it was game #1. Magna Vista, Bassett and Martinsville were all going to be pretty good this year.
Basketball season is a total travesty this year. At least the VHSL is letting schools play some games after they are eliminated this year. Tournament is going to be a total farce.
The all state sophomore from Halifax is at Hargrave now. Spencer Hairston from Magna Vista is at Greensboro Dudley. Tunstall is the clear favorite. GW will have Dixon and Howard but unless they get some transfers, I can’t see them being as good as they have been.
Hairston had transferred to Martinsville from MV but never got to play because of the covid. The Dogs always find a way to be competitive.
Who else to the Dawgs return? Shaquan Beamer’s son is a few years away from playing for the varsity team. He’ll be a 7th grader this year. He had transferred to Laurel Park but I think it was only because Henry County allows 6th graders to play. He is the #2 player in the Nation. Hopefully Martinsville High School stays open long enough for him to bring #16 to the rafters.
I can see the similarities in both their games both smooth pgs that can score on all 3 levels and set up teammates . State contender I totally agree .
Heard 2 more players from Chatham transferred to hargrave also
I don’t blame them. I’ve heard Tunstall has gotten some quality transfers in. I mean it’s a win win. Tunstall is the best school in Southside to attend, facility wise and academic, they have an excellent coach and their community support is second to none. Wish they played Northside or Cave Spring during the regular season but I know Coach Morrison believes in playing the best of the best (he and Coach Kenneth Harris at Green Run learned from the best) so Tunstall will be battle tested. They’re playing Hargrave 2x, Dan River 2x, GW 2x and Martinsville 2x plus Green Run possibly
Little old 2A Martinsville opens with Northside ( play them twice ), play Graham twice, go to Rockbridge to play Staunton (formerly RE Lee) and play in a tourney over the holiday break in North Carolina. Coach Adkins doesn't mind playing anybody. Add all the 3 and 4 A schools in the district they play, well I just hope they survive the season.
