Voted Leipold because I didn't think Petersen was realistic.

Then I came across an interesting interview from June with these quotes:

I’ll be a Husky for life, but now is the right time for me to step away from my head coaching duties, and recharge
I didn’t have great self-talk, I didn’t have great recovery skills … all these things I’ve learned since.

I would really like to see what MJ does in the coming games. If Nebraska regresses from the progress we've seen - which is to say actually playing hard and competitive; players having fun - then I'm all for looking around.

It's just kind of unfortunate that there isn't really a clear favorite amongst the board and overall fanbase. Thus, picking from a list of people which everyone is ho-hum about seems pretty forced and unnecessary - especially so if Joseph keeps showing progress.

I was not enthusiastic about Mickey becoming the HC at first because I prefer to see the new coach hired who is a head coach presently and has a 70 plus win % all time and at the present.

But the fact that he is a great recruiter, and it seems to me, a good motivator makes me think it would be bad to lose him. I think his communication skills at his PCs are very good. I like that he communicated that above everything else he wants his players to be tough. I hope he means emotionally, and can fix that, as well as physically, because these guys these recent years seem to be emotionally weak, probably from losing so much.

You know he loves Nebraska and he isn't going to retire soon due to age and I doubt he's looking for a more alluring P5 job to scoot off to the minute he has success.

This whole situation would be so completely remedied by Mickey kicking ***.
