I realize that it's pretty hard to dog the previous staff on their recruiting for the 2009 class, but I can't for the life of me figure out why Phillips is just now getting an offer from Mississippi State.

He's got a solid offer list.... it would be nice to nab him.

Rivals says we have 16 commitments... are we going to be able to sign 25 this year? If we get the guys that it sounds like we're going to get, this could be a top 15 class at worst.

He's had little to no weight training in Memphis and his technique is almost non-existent though the OB coaches have brought him along some this year. His upside is unlimited, though. He's a kid that I could see not being in the mix for two years at all (RS year, frosh year) but then starting as a sophomore and being tremendous. I suspect the big learning curve for him is what has slowed some programs. He would be an excellent sign.
