He was high on us in 2024, coming off a 5-7 season, and we went 9-4. He was less optimistic about us last year and we went 4-8. Here's hoping the trend continues.
He puts out a great product, but to me, and I’m kind of a stat geek, it’s numbers overload, hard for me to follow! I usually stick with Athlon!Phil's gonna sell a ton of magazines in SC!!!!!
You can count on 6 at least. Beamer needs 6 to keep his job. He'll find 6 somehow.I’m only see five wins
I have not been convinced of ANYTHING since the departures of Frank McGuire and Steve Spurrier. You can count on 6 at least. Beamer needs 6 to keep his job. He'll find 6 somehow.
Fans will be convinced 2027 is going to be "special" after a 6 win regular season and a win in a crap bowl.
You can count on it because 5 wins will get Beamer fired and Beamer being fired would create the possibility of a new, better coach and more success in football. South Carolina football was created over 130 years ago to produce mediocre results. The forces of the universe are not going to upset this age old plan.I have not been convinced of ANYTHING since the departures of Frank McGuire and Steve Spurrier.

Beamer will get 6 regular season wins and the purgatory of gamecock mediocrity in football will continue.

Spurrier's "success" is really overblown by a lot of gamecock fans. He had a really great three year run that was largely fueled by a once a generation alignment of the recruiting stars. Outside of those three years, his record wasn't really anything special and would have been considered very lackluster at any traditional college football power. He did not win a championship of any kind with the most talented team in SC history. His quitting on the team mid season is a black mark that I will never forget. A coach walking away mid season for no other reason than he got tired of coaching a team that wasn't winning as much as he liked is a massive insult to the team and the fans.A lot of us have watched gamecock football for over fifty years now.
Out of curiosity, what is it that makes you think gamecock football would rise from that purgatory by a coaching change again?
Spurrier? How many Spurriers have there been? Especially Spurriers blessed with a once in a lifetime blue chip in-state recruiting class falling in his lap?
Indiana? How many Indianas have there been? Jury’s still out on that one anyway.

Life goes on, as does gamecock football.
We always do very well in talking season. Can't think of one where we didn't have a great O-line, D-line, secondary, RB, QB, WR, etc.
If I remember correctly Carolina was ranked in the top3 in recruiting when Spurrier basically said he wasn’t going to coach but another year or two.All those top players decommited and wasn’t long after that he quit.Spurrier's "success" is really overblown by a lot of gamecock fans. Indiana's rise is purely a function of a billionaire throwing money at a program so it can buy players. Sadly, I think that model is the new model for success in college sports. I agree about the jury being out. Let's see how Indiana does without a Heisman caliber QB.
I don't think a new coach would necessarily change the trajectory of gamecock football. I think it is fate that gamecock football will linger in mediocrity forever. There will be brighter spots, but the overall results of SC football will continue to be a record around .500.
FWIW; I've been watching SC football for around 50 years too.
I don't know, I'm usually pretty optimistic, I've been a wait and see/show me guy most years. So true. I don't think we're alone in that, but its worth remembering.
Spurrier was like the really hot girl you dated who rocked your world for a little while and you thought she was "the one". Then, she treated you like trash but you really hoped things were going to work out. Then, she dumps you out of the blue, like gets up and walks out of dinner and never comes back. You always remember the good times and try to forget the fact she ruined your life.If I remember correctly Carolina was ranked in the top3 in recruiting when Spurrier basically said he wasn’t going to coach but another year or two.All those top players decommited and wasn’t long after that he quit.
Great analogy . . . and true! Spurrier was always about Spurrier. USC was just the stage. Which is why Beamer struck a note by saying he always wanted to be here. It was the exact opposite of what people knew about Spurrier.Spurrier was like the really hot girl you dated who rocked your world for a little while and you thought she was "the one". Then, she treated you like trash but you really hoped things were going to work out. Then, she dumps you out of the blue, like gets up and walks out of dinner and never comes back. you nailed it. people forget all the blue chip talent in our backyard when spurrier was hired. clemson fans warned us it wouldnt last and they were right. spurrier had a lot of luck to do what he did. not understanding all the hate for Beamer, yea last year sucked, people were fine the year b4 but one year later lets fire him. hers what will happen if Beamer is fired, we lose a bunch of recruits but the new coach could win a few games as the cupboard is far from bare, yall happy for 2 years and then you start the exact same process we have used for 100 years. but hey, its worked so well in the past why chang e it up? some people never learn and some people think sos was a miracle worker, he was very lucky to get the talent he did. he didnt forget how to coach, he knew he couldnt get the talent anymore. its time for Beamer to produce as he has more talent than weve had since 2013. i believe you will see it this yearA lot of us have watched gamecock football for over fifty years now.
