Something doesn't seem right about him being on the staff. I waited for his press conference to convince me he had some value to the program, but he dropped the ball on the PC big time IMHO. As far as I can tell, he is a Rhule confident, but if Matt were truly comfortable with being the coach at NU, he wouldn't need Snow around to affirm what he is doing. How about Rhule lets Butler coach without someone looking over his shoulder every day? Seems unhealthy to me.

I guess you can read into it whatever you want. I don't think it has anything to do with Rhule needing someone to affirm what he's doing. He's coaching and mentoring younger coaches, I don't see how its any more complicated than that. We'd have won more games last year if someone that knew WTF he was doing had been looking over Satt's shoulder. I like Butler but I'm happy to have Snow around just in case.

Maybe Snow can help with clock management too. Rhule does a lot of things great but clock management has been a big issue in several close losses.

Snow is sort of like an older professor who has done it all, and is now mentoring the younger profs and providing high-end teaching to the students. This staff is a substantial improvement from what we had in the past decade, and Snow adds value to it.

Confident is an adjective that typically means “having or showing assurance and self-reliance.” Confidant is a noun meaning “one to whom secrets are entrusted.” Sorry, couldn't help but wonder which you were trying to imply.

It really only matters if they get along or not.

I have coached with guys where it felt like they were looking over my shoulder and it sucked. I coached with guys that had tons of experience but made me feel super comfortable.

You just need to think of it as you would your own workplace. You know when you feel comfortable and when you don't.

The last time someone mentioned Snow's lack of resume, I took a closer look. And IDK. He's definitely a bit removed from his prime, but the guy had some solid defenses through out the years. And he's been around the game a long time. If he were the actual DC I might be more reserved. But I don't lose sleep at night over Snow.

Honestly I wasn't in the "Butler camp" to begin with. I still have some questions if I'm being honest. I thought HCMR should've chose a more experienced and successful DC. I don't doubt Butler knows ball but it's been like what 10 years since he called defense at the college level? Just DC for DC I perferred White over Butler. Of course our defense needed to get better on 3rd and longs and getting meaningful stops when the game is on the line but ...its hard to argue with the stats and we're we ranked in scoring defense.

That said the fact that MR brought in Snow eased my concerns somewhat. Also the fact that the secondary coach has recent DC experience is also a plus.

I guess I don't see how Snow coming aboard can be a negative in any way. He knows defense and seemingly works well with our 3000 people DB room lol.

Let's see it play out. Sure i have some doubt but not as much as did after the official announcement of Butler.

Yeah, he’s just an old coach looking to hang around the game. It’s been 28 years since he peeked but really doesn’t have a major role so who cares. I think the more concern is Rhule’s ability to be a leader who doesn’t need a comfort puppy.

Peaked 28 years ago? First year (2017) at Baylor under stiff sanctions, Baylor was ranked 114 in team D. Two years later, Baylor was ranked 20. First year at Temple (2013), team D ranked 83. The next year, the rank was 5 and the following it was 17.
Wonder if John Butler thinks Snow is just an old comfort puppy.
