Due respect, I don't think he was arguing whether the "fears" were well-founded. I think he was rebutting the handful of people who said they would happily sacrifice all the other sports to bring back Greg and give him full control of the program.

Football success aside, Schiano v1.0 had a negative impact on other sports at Rutgers. Yes, we have more money now. But here's the thing - and there's no getting around it - Rutgers athletics as a whole is still losing tens of millions of dollars a year. So everything is vulnerable.

You build a WALL.

Let GS do what he does with football and that's that. You build respect for eachother by making yourself available for requests as needed. When GS needs something from the AD, the AD should not get all pissy.. and visa-versa .

If things go badly for too long.. then you have to address the problem. Until then you have a wall. GS shows he ran the football program rather tightly. He doesn't need oversight. And an AD should appreciate that, not resent that.
