A pretty good day. I believe Teddy P’s grade is our highest for an OL this year.

Might be the best thing benching Benhart.. Might make him better down the road and a good learning opportunity..

So are PFF grades real when they reflect well on our players?
Have you not read this board all year. There has been immensely more negative post including the PFF grades on NU players then any positive. Don't try and create a narrative that isn't real.

Opponent and lineup shakeup aside, it really makes one wonder what the hell has been going on prior to yesterday.
Exactly. I meant to post earlier but got a new phone and been having issues transitioning.

Where has this team been??‽ obviously the o line issues can't be put all on Austin. You don't go from playing patty cake to driving guys 5 yards downfield in one week. This is more scheme failure than teaching failure.

I like the change

Seems like a lot of people got the memo this week. Keep it up. Play like that and we're undefeated top 5 team right now

Austin coaches and decided who plays. They should have asked Nelson. He was high on Teddy and the German before from the way they practiced

It's highly doubtful Austin made 3 wholesale changes in the OL last week without the Head Coachs' approval. When SF indicates he will be overseeing the OL last week, I tend to take him at his word.

Doesn't anyone think it's odd that Piper started at LG. was replaced by Hixson v. MSU, and then Hixson was replaced by Nouili against NW. Each week that LG position got better and better.

Suddenly after 6 games Piper has moved from #1 to #3 LG. (I think Piper is a nice young man who busted his ***, but needs more time and coaching).

Good things can happen when the coache(s) actually play the best players.

Yes I get that. AND the left side played phenomenal. Teddy looked pretty good for playing the whole game. Pretty dark red uniform at the end from the sweat. Impressive for a freshman.

I'm not ready to let Austin off the hook, but this was a complete change in blocking scheme which is a result in play calling/scheme.
They've obviously (now) been taught how to be physical and block with tenacity. That's not something you just decide to do. Up to now they haven't been allowed to.....for some unknown reason. Maybe we finally decided to not force square pegs through round holes. Same goes for running backs. Turn them loose

Teddy has a lot of potential. He's (understandably) a bit tentative due to inexperience at the big boy level. For example, the time he led the back through the hole and was getting to the second level defender, he wasn't very aggressive.

In a year, Teddy will freight train that dude. The more SF and Austin talk about the "nasty" the more likely it will happen over time. A young guy like Benhart just doesn't look like he has any nasty in him. Not his fault, coming from high school to college is a helluva challenge.

Assuming the "nasty" is going to become part of the vocabulary, Benhart will have to develop it, or he will not be a crucial part of the lineup. Piper is another young guy who is plagued with "technique" that the aggressiveness doesn't come natural.

Nasty isn't a requirement, but controlled nasty in those mano on mano battles will help lead NU in the future.

Cam, oh yeah. Nouili, yep. Corcoran and Teddy not quite yet, but I am really excited about HOW powerful these kids can become as they gain more confidence. If all 5 starters return next year, this NU line will begin to bring back memories of the old Pipeline.

As has been discussed on here, once these linemen begin to become more physical, and develop that reputation, the more the opportunity for "those" type kids will want to come and play in that style.

Bama, Ga, and a handful of others will get their pick of the litter, but there are hundreds of linemen in high school.

I would think they would return
